How To Fix Buttons on laptop keyboard not working!
Working on a laptop computer gives you flexibility and portability. Since it is prone to frequent transfer, manufacturers make sure that their systems can withstand almost every risk including spills, transport and jostling. However, laptops are still prone to wear and tear both inside and outside. Laptop errors may include hard drive failure, system crash, not enough memory and virus infestation.
Apart from the time delays on your computer work and the lost productivity, there is also the issue of expenses to fix the errors, not to mention the calls to tech support. For fatal laptop errors, some cases may require you ship your laptop back to the manufacturer for repairs.

Does anyone know what might be causing this problem, and is it fixable without having to bring it in/replace the keyboard? A few hours ago I was pulling something out from under the spacebar button, and now the X, C, V, M and quotation buttons won't work! Sorry, can't "help you out" unles you bring the laptop here Hey guys, I use a Toshiba Satellite A100 Laptop.
Please help me out! Assuming that you didn't pry the keys themselves loose, yes it could be loose wires. Open up the thing and see. I tried looking on the internet and some sites vaguely said something about loose wires, but I'm not sure.
Sometimes if I push the spacebar on the side, it'll do something like this: mFDA" I tried resetting the laptop but no dice.

Some buttons on laptop keyboard have stopped working...
The laptop is a Toshiba Tecra A2 and the OS is Windows XP Professional. I don't suppose there are any hotkeys assigned to those keys?Go to your Laptop Manufacturer's website, go to Download and Drivers, locate your laptop model and download its keyboard drivers (if present). Nothing was spilled on the keyboard and nothing drastic has happened to the computer since a very long time.
This problem started just a couple of days ago, and the keys 4 and 6 and the spacebar have stopped working suddenly. And the strange or rather good thing is that the windows on-screen keyboard works fine, its only the external keyboard on the laptop on which the three keys don't work.
Some keyboard buttons not working
I did have the keyboard out while trying to figure out how to get at the screen. When i restarted the machine everything was fine, installed some windows updates, moved from folder to folder no prob, but now my daghter tells me some of the keys are not working! What might be the problem here? Thank You
Top buttons on keyboard not working
Because if it does, your sound driver is perfectly loaded an the problem may likely be elsewhere.
After being infected with a trojan yesterday, I have my laptop back up and running, however, the top 4 buttons, Thinkpad, Volume down, Volume up, and mute are not working. attached are the screenshots of all the startup programs and my current settings for them.
I believe that this is because I am not loading a driver for them during startup (I had to disable a few to get rid of the virus), however, I can not figure out which one might be causing the problem. You can go into Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices to try accessing the same services from there and let us now if that works.

Volume Buttons on Keyboard not working
I also downloaded Spybot and Adaware and ran scans,, deleted a few nasties that came up and ran scan with Mcaffee. Many keyboards with extra controls require driver from the manufacturer.
Everything fine with the exception that the volume buttons on the keyboard no longer work.
I just replaced my old system with a new one, and used the sound system I had with the old one.
It shows on the screen when u push the button but doesn't control vol. I can adjust externally or on the application. Ive been into all the Keyboard setup and volume controls and have yet to find anything to make the keyboard controls work again. I have downloaded the latest drivers from HP but that didn't help either.
Any ideas anyone? nthe10ring
What is the specific make/model of the keyboard? I proceeded to dump the Norton that was installed and download Mcaffee from AOL. AMD 3500
1 gig Ram
Windows XP Media Center Edition
Boston Acoustics Surround Sound System
On board audio used- no sound card
I had a few problems getting sound to work, realized that had to use the digital out to get the system I have to work.
All other controls work. After using an adapter from the digital out it worked fine.
Touch buttons at top of keyboard not working.
Its red and won't switch to blue when I touch it.
I have a problem, except the touch-sensitive buttons at the top (the mute button, volume button) are working the only button which in not responding is the wireless assistant button. I tried the hard reset but it didn't change anything.

Hey mate, welcome to the forums. Have you downloaded drivers for your keyboard?
On my keyboard which is a Logitech Ultra X (Ultra X) i have some buttons at the top, like Media, play/pause, www, email and mute. But i have encountered some problems, both with sound and keyboard. Do any of you guys in here have any idea about how this may be fixed?
Lenovo p50 keyboard buttons not working
This includes all 3 buttons above and below the trackpad. THe trackpad itself is working, and I can left-click by tapping the trackpad but that is it. Can someone please help me with this issues.
I have updated all drivers and am unable to use any of the buttons near the trackpad.
Mouse buttons not working when keyboard in use
Interestingly, the touchpad itself DOES respond, it's just the mouse buttons (both R & L) that insist on waiting until all keys have been released. So in summary:* Works fine on my original > 4-year-old account that I migrated from W8 years ago;* Does not work on a separate account I created a couple of months ago. Any idea where to begin with this one? Though I have more than quadruple-checked the Ultranav settings from my son's account, the mouse buttons refuse to operate when a key is pressed.
W530 laptop with latest recommended Synaptics driver (188.8.131.52), Windows 10. I occasionally play games on my laptop using the touchpad and mouse buttons.
This smells like a funky setting in the registry for my son's account.
Everything works great for my (default admin) account. I set up an account for my son to use so he could play Minecraft with his brother.

Some keyboard buttons suddenly stopped working!
And I've never had any issues...until now. I have borrowed another keyboard right now but its tough using another keyboard after using the same for over a year. The keyboard worked fine last night before I went to bed, when I was gonna check some sites before school, and a few buttons was not working.

compaq keyboard sound buttons not working
It is probably on his/her restore cd also.
They are to be checked but they weren't there. I found a solution on Compaq's site but could not find "Hidserv" and "Cpqeasyacc" in the Startup Menu.
You can probably find it on compaqs website by looking for downloads under his model/serial number. Any help?
I'm trying to help a friend w/ this problem. I found the solution about a year ago and I didn't copy it down(dumb).
Mouse & keyboard hot buttons stopped working
Any helpful hints would be appreciated. My Wireless Logitech MX3000 keyboard hot keys and the side buttons on my mouse no longer work. The Mouse and Keyboard hotkeys did work on my prior PC.
The first thing I'd try is uninstall & reinstall the drivers. Everything fired up and worked GREAT except for one thing.
But to no avail. Instead of using the disk to reinstall from, download the latest ones from the Logitech site.

Fix keyboard buttons on laptop?
how can i fix them? (note: they are still connected to the keyboard but are loose and not straight like the other ones) thnx
usually the buttons are mounted with clips. Some of the buttons on my laptop have been turned out of shape and not straight. I may work if you put them in the correct position and press them down careful but with a little more intensity
IdeaPad P580 - Volume buttons on keyboard are not working
I installed Windows 10 a couple of years ago. Is it a drivers problem? I tried Lenovo support but I only see drivers for OS Windows 7 and 8. I noticed last week that the volume buttons (Touchpad) on the keyboard are not working.
How can I fix this problem? I had no problems since.

HID Keyboard, buttons stopped working. Not sure if driver issue. Help.
I started loosing key functions a couple weeks ago, but it was just a couple... [backspace, enter, backslash, down/right arrows] and after about an hour the keys would magically start working again. What I have done... -deleted and updated drivers = nothing-virus/malware scans = nothing-restarting multiple times, hard restart = nothing-smashing on keyboard = nothing, but made me feel a little better...Does anybody have ANYOTHER options for me, perhaps an alternate driver to download... Now its getting worse, along with the original keys these don't work anymore either [shift, 689 on non number pad keys, f1-f3]... and it won't magically start working anymore.
Try contact Acer. Tried cleaning it, nothing. HID keyboard driver.
Okay so, I have a acer aspire v3, 771G-9809...
