How To Fix Cocreateinstance Failed; Code 0x8007007e

Having a sign that tells us of issues that we need to solve in life for us to move forward is a great idea. While it does not always work in life, it does in computers. Messages that indicate the issues your computer encounters are called error codes. They appear whenever there is a problem such as incorrect data input or faulty hardware. Computer programmers add predefined error codes and messages in their system codes so whenever there is an issue, it prompts the users. While error codes may be predefined, there are different sets of error codes with different meanings for other kinds of computer programs.

Possible Malware Installation Results in CoCreateInstance failed Error

The newly installed programs would often fail to run if I tried to run them. I would receive an error that said something along the lines of ?CoCreateInstance failed; code XXXXXXXXXXXX. Your version of ieframe.dll may be outdated. I received the following error: ?CoCreateInstance failed; code 0x80040154.

Class not registered.? At that point a window popped up with the heading ?Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows.? It informed me that it would be closing Windows Explorer in order to protect against damages from security threats. I noticed that some of the things I was trying to install did not have shortcuts created in the start menu or on the desktop. After finishing the steps, my problems have persisted. After ~15 minutes, I used task manager to restart the computer.

Last night, I had trouble installing a game on my computer. I use 32 bit Windows XP with Service Pack 3. I'm sorry but this is not a malware problem.

I then tried to update and run Malwarebytes, but that failed as well (when it attempted to install the new version, the normal CoCreateInstance error appeared). I then skipped the Malwarebytes portion of the process and moved onto TDSSkiller. Your logs are clean, you may want to try using a System Restore point from a few days ago to see if that helps. Tried to install Malwarebytes.

Upon clicking ?Finish? (and attempting to run Malwarebyes), the following error occured ?Runtime error ?372?: Failed t...

Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads. Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.

anybody have any ideas?

Save the file as Appevt.evtx
Repeat for the System log
then zip both, and upload them.

have tried sfc /scannow

but to no avail, i still receive the error message

i have also used take ownership on the downloader file in programdata/microsoft/network
and was able to start bits service once i then re enabled windows update. Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save... it hung for awhile so i restarted and got the same error for bits, tried take ownership again, but still get the same error

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

failed new Windows Update installer code 800F081F after code 80072EE2

To check for Windows Updates, you must first install an update for Windows Update. I attach the logs: however, the copy of the entire CBS folder is too large as a zip to attach (12 MB), so I have only attached the most recent logs. I am very much hoping someone can help me, or maybe just tell me that it's OK to continue working without any Windows and Office updates coming in ? Please download and install Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ - UNtick 'Enable free trial of MBAM Premium' at the end of the installation - and update it, then run a full scan in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

Method 11 tells me to take ownership of pending.xml: that is not present on my system. Thereafter, only failure messages in the log (now wiped clean, as a result of following one of the suggestions I found). Method 12: chkdsk results in the answer: "the drive, the path, or the file name is not valid"
I have now found this forum and have followed the instructions here to prepare for asking help. Something seems to have happened on or after 19 July -- the final date that updates were installed.

I can no longer use Windows Update. When I click "check for updates", I receive a message that a problem occurred. Quarantine everything it finds

So I can also not make recovery DVDs etc.

Error 0x8007007e

Mod Edit:  Split from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/513138/unable-to-logon-a-problem-is-preventingchecking-license/ - Hamluis.

I have the same problem, and since the proposed fix is shown, thought I would continue the question [since fix cannot be done].

Have been using XP SP2 and installed SP3 several weeks ago.  All was working great, therefore I backed up my work via Ghost....several times.  I did have a problem though that prompted me to restore back to an earlier restore point, several times and different restore points and all worked fine.

The last time though I thought the problem I was having might be due to SP3, so I restored to a restore point that was created before I installed SP3.  When the computer rebooted, I received the error code above 0x8007007e  Warning states that the license cannot be verified.  I do have the license on the shiny mirrored sticker that is on the box for the original disk.  I can get to the user log in screen [I am the only one who has used this computer since it was new and I have the discs that came with it new] and after logging in, it shows the error code and shuts down.  I cannot get into the computer to even attempt to fix by the suggested fix.

I really like my old clogger [have a new Macbook Pro but prefer the old MS].  I need help to solve....please.  [If this should be posted new...let me know and I can do that.]

Microsoft update : 0x8007007E on Windows 7

I have an 0x8007007E error while trying to use Microsoft Update on IE8. However, Windows update (the one built in windows) works but it only gives me updates for windows. Windows Update should take care of updating IE8, it is a change from the former way of doing updates. I have an 0x8007007E error while trying to use Microsoft Update on IE8.

P.S. - Sorry for the delay in responding, but it looks like the issue is solved for you.

error 0x8007007e when attempting to open programs or pictures larger

i would appreciate the help very much and i thank you all for your time

also i posted this in the performance section because i figured since it was photoviewer and other programs, all different types of programs that this would be the right section, i hope it is, and im sorry if it is not. Have you tried running system restore to a time you didn't have this issue? System Restore

when i try to do a search on this error everything i find is related to windows updates mainly not being able to update.

its a windows 7 x64 computer, now the programs im using are basic programs that have worked for me for close to 2 years, recently when i try to view a picture larger or open programs(any program at all) i get this error 0x8007007e says there was an error and the program could not be opened showing me that error, sometimes the programs will still open anyways, sometimes i have to retry multiple times, and other times i have to restart the pc to make it work. im at a loss on what could fix this problem.

Getting CreateProcess failed; code 5.

I would appreciate your help please. I am currently running Windows XP, Version 2002 (Service Pack 3). On an Acer Travelmate 6593 laptop. Regards
Bhele.

Dear All,
I am trying to install Download Manager (fdm.exe) and I get "CreateProcess failed; code 5" error. This happens right at the end of the installtion.

CreateProcess failed; code 5

So I am thinking that AVG may tag a file during install as a virus. Has anyone determined this to be the case?
I have noticed similar posts to my own but none seem to have a solution. They involved installing various types of software and a failure to launch problem.

Every computer is different.Uninstall AVG, using AVG Remover: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools and see, if it solves the problem. If not, you can always reinstall it.

Which then sets of a slew of complications. The constant between these issues was Vista and AVG.

And if so is there a work around or must I uninstall AVG to get through this?
