0x80070005: Access is denied

I am an administrator on this PC, and I have no firewall or anti-virus software enabled. Can someone help me? you could try using this You may receive an, but I don't know if that will help

I have been attempting to enable the "Function Discovery Resource Publication" service but am getting this error when I try to start it.

Access is denied 0x80070005

I have 'unticked' everything on the back up list and just tried to back up the music files but I get the Access is denied (0x80070005) message every time. The thing is I only back up my 'C' drive I don't bother with the 'D' drive as there's not much on there. I have read previous blogs about the same error message, but my problem is not exactly the same.

I get the message when I back up my data onto a separate hard drive. I still have quite a lot of space on my PC and my separate hard drive (64GB of 250 left). Any bright ideas? I can back up everything in the list, except for the music.

I realise that this is a bit of an old chestnut. I am worried as I don't want to lose my music files.

Access denied - error 0x80070005

For one mapped network drive, I do get prompted for credentials, however, no matter what I log in with (myself, which is an administrator account, or the administrator account) I get a message saying "Multiple Connections to a server or a shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. However, starting today I am no longer able to access the network or server at all, even by manually browsing to the server using \\sbs1. When trying to manually browse to a network drive or the server, I get the error message #0x80070005 saying that Windows cannot access \\sbs1, etc. When I try accessing mapped networked drives, instead of being prompted for log-on credentials I get an "Access denied" message.

I have a laptop running Vista home premium in a network environment. I have a couple of mapped network drives that I would just have to provide network log-on credentials to access. I tried a System Restore to last week before this started occurring to no avail. Server is running Small Business Server 2003.

Disconnect all previous connections to this resource and try again." I'm puzzled why I have had no problems for almost three years until today out of nowhere. I can ping the server from a command prompt without problem. For almost 3 years I have been able to utilize this machine on the network despite it being a home edition. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Access is denied - 0x80070005 - cant back up

I've looked through all the answers to this on Tech Guy, I've re-formatted the destination drive, I've moved to manual back up , stopped the schedule , turned off de-frag tool. It gets to virtually the end of the back everytime and then the error appears and the back up fails. I HAVE managed to do a full back up once - backing up the whole PC as a shadow copy, but a cant do a scheduled periodic back up of files. Befroe Christmas it stopped backing up - initially because the destination drive was full , and then because of the above error.

As it stands I'm doing a manual back up of my files - but it is a bit of a pain. Nothing seems to work. Occasionally It seems to co-incide with my security protection ( Microsoft essentials ) finding a tool that it says is used for downloading malware - as this keeps recurring and started about the same time.

I have a Sony Laptop with Vista Business. I have a daily back up schedule. I back up using the save and restore facility on the lap top to an external hard drive connected via a USB.

Work Folders Access Denied 0x80070005

I can't see any errors in the event log related to Work Folders and there are 50+ other users working fine so I don't think it's an issue with the core setup. The majority of the machines have been fine but we have a small number of users that have failed when we try to setup Work Folders with an Access Denied 0x80070005 error message, I've checked all the permissions and they are correct and another user on the
same machine works fine so it seems to be something specific to these users. Will this problem occures? On the other hand, have you add these problematic user to sync list at Work Folders properties in Server?Roger Lu
TechNet Community Support

Since you said the Work Folders was deployed through Group Policy, have you tried to add the work folder manually? We're in the process of deploying Work Folders at a customer environment, the core infrastructure is Windows 2012 R2 based with a mix of Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8.1 Pro client machines. If we use Http instead Https, will the connection could be created successfully? FWIW we've only seen this on Windows 7 Pro machines, I haven't had a chance to test on of these
users on a Windows 8 Pro workstation yet but that's next on the list to do.

Access Denied Error 0x80070005 under WinXP

I'm always asked for the password, but if I use the password or not I always receive the same message as following:

**An error has occurred while attempting to set task account information**
The Specific Error Is "access has been denied 0x80070005"
You do not have permission to perform the requested operation

Can anybody help me with the answer please?

Dear All

When I try to setup my computer with schedule tasks, I setup the "time" and "Day" and then click OK at this stage. Please don?t forget to set the admin rights to the new user account.

If not, try to login to OS with the new user account and try again.

System Image - Access is denied (0x80070005)

and when I choose On a hard disk, on the drop down menu I get <Refresh>
When selected it says: Access is denied. (0x80070005)
I want to take the image back up on other drive which is new, formatted and 230gb space.

On the Backup and Restore icon, when I click on the Create a system image link. Use free Macrium then you will not have these problems.

Please. Win7 imaging is at best "erratic" and you can never be sure whether the recovery works - even when you managed to write an image.

Error 0x80070005, Access Denied -- Need help ASAP

Double click the Windows Modules Installer service name to set its startup type to Manual.
3. Access is denied."
Tried a number of solutions I found on Google and Microsoft's website, including checking system services, turning off Avira temporarily, taking ownership of the external hard drive, running backup as administrator, and extending the drive partition to include some unallocated space at the top of the disk, but none of this worked. Check the Event Viewer for any error or warning logs that may give you clue what is causing the issue.
5. Open Command Prompt as a administrator and type Sfc /Scannow command and press Enter key to repair any damage Windows system files.
In case you are unable to start the System File Checker and you instead get the “Windows Resource Protection Could Not Start the Repair Service” error, you may want to check up if Windows Modules Installer service has been Disabled.

The startup type of this service should be set to Manual. I get the "Error code 0x80070005. I need help ASAP as the free upgrade is no longer available after July!! I still got the error.
Next, I tried AOMEI's free backup software, but it could not detect my operating system drive!

In fact, it said I have 46GB of unallocated space in the middle of my Windows partition, which is weird because that doesn't show up in any other software...
Okay, so I can't ever remember having this problem be...

0x80070005: Access is denied in picture viewer

I was saving photos with star ratings in a folder and deleting ones which I didn't want. I tried this but all I got was "Unspecified error during system restore, error 0x80070005"
I don't know what to do next. Help desperately needed!

It suggested I disable my antivirus and start again.

Sorry it is all such a mess. On closing down the laptop I was told "settings.ini is being used by another process. Why can't I see my photos, and what on earth can I do about my settings.ini? In case it is relevant, I wanted to check out Windows Media Center to see if it could help but it keeps crashing. I don't know how to reset my administrator permissions.

I am having great problems with my laptop which is running Windows 7 (I am using my desktop to post this). There is no other program open. Later I wanted to view the other photos and found that access was denied because I didn't have the right permissions to open the files in Windows Picture Viewer. I rebooted and tried to use system restore but it failed as it "could not access a file".

Close the other program and click retry". Also, to complicate matters, I was using the laptop offline but I normally have Poptray checking online to see if I have any emails and when I closed down after the reboot I got the message "cannot create file C\Program Files\Pop Tray\Pop Tray.ini". I then found I couldn't open any of my photos in any fo...

schedule task error 0x80070005: access is denied

I do not remember the error number but, since is a schedule, did you check your system clock?

I am running windows XO home SP2. and both Dell and Microsoft want money to fix their problem..can anyone out there help me?

I had that problem. Try using the Task page Browse button to locate application.

The specific error is: 0x80070005: Access is denied. After trying to run the wizard in task scheduler, I get the error message: The new task has been created, but may not run because the account information could not be set. I ahve been to Microsoft's web page, they are aware of the problem, the walk around doesn't work.

I ahve recently just tryed to schedule a few applications to run at certain times. (Norton, adaware, spyware) just to name a few.

Kaspersky and Back up error access is denied (0x80070005)

The KIS personal firewall, like its competitiors, tend to block local NETBIOS ports which in turn cause Windows 7 (& Vista) system services to crash. jcgriff2

Does anyone know of a way round this problem thats more permenant than disabling Kaspersky for each backup? When I run an automated backup with Vista, I get the Back up error access is denied (0x80070005).

When complete - re-boot. I've looked into trying to deselect any Kaspersky files in AppData or elsewhere that might be getting backed up and causing Kaspersky problems, but there seems to be no advanced menu to pick and choose exact files and folders. The 0xc0000005 exception errors you are seeing in System Restore/ other backup is just the beginning. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 32 Bit and Kaspersky 2010.

Un-install KIS using the KIS Removal Tool (KRT) -

Download the KRT; save to desktop. If I temporarily disable Kaspersky then the backup will complete properly. Reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type ffirewall.cpl | select "Restore Defaults"

I would recommend MS Security Essentials -->

Regards. . .

Then go to desktop, RIGHT-click on the KRT icon and select Run as Administrator.

backup failed! "Access Denied 0x80070005" error

This is the directory that always pops up: file:\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy61\Users\cjlanc\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\55\63ca7fb7-144752c8 It's driving me insane. I'm the administrator, no other user accounts on this laptop, so I don't understand why I don't have access to all my files as the error says. Microsoft Security Essentials pops up and tells me that it caught a Trojan (Karagany.G) lurking in one of the shadow copy files.

Some help please?

I've tried to create a backup of my computer files on an external hard drive three times but I get the same error message each time.

While trying to install ConvertXtoDVD I got this message near the end of the installation and the software will not work because of it

I've ran sfc /scannow and I ran it in safe mode, it said it fixed files but I still get the error
I've ran DISM which said there was nothing wrong

I've ran a scan with Malware Bytes a few times and have removed malware

Error: 0x80070005 - Access denied , Backup Failed after SP-1 update

Ran sfc /scannow and also clean for both.. Did so and was able to complete a backup, tried re-enabling and again the backup failed.. Tried disabling all non-Microsoft services except for anti-virus and bluetooth (mouse is bluetooth) on one laptop and backup still failed with the same error..

Have never used it, backups have always been to the external drives (L: on one laptop and H: on the other). Ran chkdsk on both laptops and both external drives and no problems found.. Fails as below:

Error: 0x80070005 - Access denied

Both laptops were set to run backups once a week (since the external drives are not plugged in at all times)..

3 computers, desktop running Ultimate and backing up to AC-powered external drive and 2 laptops running Professional and back up to USB-powered external drives..

seems there must be another solution as backups were working just fine before SP-1. Backups set for full data and included system image for all 3.. now shows 262GB for the image and 151GB for the data and less than 50GB still free - had over 250GB free initially.... Do not really want to have to disable my anti-virus every time a backup is scheduled to run for both laptops...

the other drive is 320GB and also shows similar stats). Seems to get to approx 97% - 99% before it fails.. Have not changed the program I'm using, and its not causing backups to fail on the desktop computer (running the same program). I have also posted on the forum an...

I have been fixing up a computer which was loaded with malware/viruses. My thought here is that there is still some rootkit or rogue malware running which is preventing me access to this file. It is preventing access to other system files such as the hosts file, the ability to start/stop services through the services.msc console, etc.

Couple of things I have tried to resolve this:
- Microsoft support KB article 2008385 =
- Disabled Plug N Play service within registry through CMD command
- Enabled Administrator account to attempt activation

After attempting these steps and performing a reboot, I am still unable to get around this...
