From the Forums
A user in the forum details it further:
When I get to the start up page i used to log into my user and it would either take a long time to load, or freeze up. then the monitor would start turning on and off but the power light stayed on. When it did load however, i could use it for about 30 min. When My computer Starts up some of the technical letters of the words are colored or capitalized where they shouldn't be, after this the Microsoft logo and progress bar loads, there are little colored dots ALL over the screen.
I didn't want to bother with it so i left it alone for 3 months then i tried to turn it on the other day and right after i logged into my user i had a blue screen. I have gotten a blue screen before and it would say I had a driver problem but this time it didn't list any problems with the drivers. I'm not very technical and could really use some help.
I still have little dots all over the desktop.

Colored pixel dots appear on monitor
Of course I can take my computer to a technician and fix it, but maybe there is a possible solution I can try before wasting money. How long has this laptop had this trouble?
Or perhaps, if there is no solution, what might be the problem (heat, video card, etc.)? If you need any additional information in order to help me find a solution, just say.
Do the dots take some time to appear or do they show right away? My computer also crushes a lot and it seems like the colored dots is the source to all of my problems.
Y500 Screen Bright White with Vertical Colored Lines | Random Colored boxes and dots
I tried leaving it off over night and again in the morning it was the same thing. I plugged in an another monitor but the same problem persists. This issue happens even when I'm in the BIOS. Any suggestions? Please help.... If I leave it on for a while it keeps doing the same thing. Like almost the instant I turn on the computer.
I tried leaving it off over night and again in the morning it was the same thing. I plugged in an another monitor but the same problem persists. Sometimes the lines flash around quickly like it's trying to give me epilepsy and sometimes stay in one spot for a moment. Also some time suddenly random colored boxes and dots cover the screen accompanied by a popping sound from the speakers as soon as this happens then it completely freezes. Ctrl-Alt-Dlt and every other key combination I could think of had no effect so I did a hard reboot. When I turned the computer back on the screen immediately goes back to being white with the vertical lines again.

I have a Y500 and it has been working mostly fine up until last night. GT 650M graphics card, i7, 16gb RAM, 1TB HD , 16gb SSD. I was doing some browsing suddenly the screen was completely white with vertical colored lines. This issue happens even when I...
S10-3: colored dots line at start up
The coloured dot line also appeared in my s10-3, the line was near the top right corner of the screen, about 1 inch line with a broken line and a few dots below. I left it unattended, and the line just disappears recently. The line seems don't do any harm to the computer.
Tiny colored dots all over my desktop....
Uninstall current vid driver (If you have an nVidia mobo and a nVidia vidcard, make sure you only uninstall the video driver, not all nVidia drivers or your mobo will lose its drivers also.)
4. Empty the recycle bin and Reboot
10. Disable any AntiVirus Software.
...as well as distorted images in certain windows and red 'blotches" (sorry, best descriptive term I could come up with) on radio selection buttons in menus. Redo what was undone in #2 & #1, in that order. Just did a clean install of windows.
If you can NOT cancel out of auto detect wizard then, navigate to device manager->display adapters->highlight (nVidia, ATI, etc.) and click uninstall or remove but don't reboot. (From Driver Cleaner ReadMe, modified for clarity by Rike)
7. To ensure proper installation, you should check in Device Manager to be sure the driver is installed for both cards. Quit DriverCleaner and restart into Windows XP normal mode.
8. You should be able to can cancel out of the auto install hardware wizard move to step #7.
1. Note for SLI users: sometimes the driver doesn't install for both cards. Unplug nic card or modem from net or disconnect. (I never do this)
If you don't disable, it could give you trouble. (This either)
3. On reboot into safe mode WinXP SP1/SP2 will ...
Colored dots and objects at top of screen...
Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Same result. Still, with the same result.
I took out my video card and plugged my monitor into the mother boards vga slot. Then when my desktop would normally show is when the pixels show up and the rest of the screen is black. I plugged my Xbox 360 up to monitor with the HDMI cable and it looks fine so it's not on the monitor's end. Then i used a HDMI cable from my monitor to my motherboards HDMI slot.
When the computer is loading, the screen stays black. I have to restore from image every time...
This happened for the first time tonight and I have no clue what happened.
When my computer finishes starting up, it ends with what looks like blobs of colored pixels in a line at the top of my screen.
Problem with ASUS GeForce 2 GTS and colored dots
For better CPU cooling, I changed my computer case to a bigger mini-tower with two internal air circulators (power connectors plugged on my ASUS MOBO) to ensure enought air circulation. After that, I noticed that in 2D programs there are some colored spots (noticed on black color images); if I refresh the picture, the spots change place (sometimes they disappear). It is possible that you were sitting on the edge of the max power that it can supply. Can someone help me?

Welcome to 3dspotlight forums...
The only thing I can think of that could be a problem is your power supply. With a Geforce2 GTS and Athlon its probably best to have at least 300w. Until last week everything was ok...
Apart from that I would check that no points under the motherboard in the case are too close or touching the base of the case. Not sure what else it could be, sounds like a strange problem. I am not overclocking anything and did not change a single thing on my ASUS drivers' configuration. If you have 250w its possible that the extra power required by the fans has take a little power from the GF2.
Hopefully one of our selection of knowledgeable members will have a solution or an idea of what may be causing this problem

Yoga 13 fails with colored dots noise
So warranty is off now.
I've been (probably was) a happy Yoga 13 customer for a year and a half. Screen starts to show colored lines or dots, that change their color rapidly. I doubt you paid for the machine in cash.
About a month ago it started to fail unexpectedly. Almost every time keyboard stops responding and sound becomes stuck, so I have to press and hold power button to turn everything off. Credit card companies often extend the mfg warranty, by a year, for free. Give them a call.
Rarely keyboard and sound are working, so it's possible to shutdown gracefully, but with the same video issue. Have anyone experienced these sympoms?
Colored lines on monitor
It just randomly appears sometimes and I have no idea why or how to get rid of it. And sometimes it gets either a blue or yellow line going vertically from top to bottom about 4 inches from the left side. Any ideas what's wrong/how to fix it?
A Samsung 731B. I tried restarting and unconnecting/reconnecting monitor to comp. I also took a screenshot and pasted in paint to see if it was the comp or the monitor and it didn't show up so I guess it's the monitor.
So I got a new lcd monitor for christmas.
Is warranty still valid?I suggest you return it for replacement...
Different colored text using LCD monitor
You know the text that is replacable not the text that is part of the menu's of say the all programs list but show up on Outlook as far as the text is concerned. So having said all that. I had a Viewsonic 19 in CRT that worked fine before this happend.
These question marks are purple with green dots below them. ARRRRRGH!
I concluded that the issue was NOT with the LCD monitor and is with my HP d530c tower. As it is now as I type.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it has to do with the Java portion of the text. So I hooked it up to two other LCD monitors and it diplayed the same thing.
I got a new LCD monitor the other day and when I started unsing it it diplayed green and purple text. It does not show up on the bold header, only the opened text that is part of the e-mail itself.
I had HP instant help trying to figure this out and they did do much but try another graphics driver that did not work. Does anyone think its time for another graphics card as mine may as well be too old to display through new technology as far as a LCD monitor is concerned????? I first started noticing it when I went to NBA.COM looking at the divisonal stats stangings and noticed that all the number 1's were purple. I suspect that maybe it is my graphics card that might not be compatible with the new monitor new vs old technology.
Monitor black but turning monitor off/on flashes desktop for split second
but either way I try, it makes no difference to monitor. and as soon as it reaches desktop point (I think), it goes black even though monitor is still powered and no errors about no signal. Don't ask me further spec details cuz I have no idea about most of the specs (an ex built it and can't get in control panel due to monitor issue).
The PC boots fine, gives you the option to start windows normally or leave it do its' thing... I just know that it's supposed to be kick-*** with a 5.8 windows score. If I turn monitor off and on, it will quickly show me the desktop then it goes black again. If the same problem occurs then we will know it is a problem with the PC, if it functions normally you will know it is a problem with your monitor.
When it boots, the monitor shows all the usual details, the bios pic, starting...
Monitor shows only colored lines
Any clue from that info?
We tried to change out monitors and I guess we didn't have the computer shut down. We unplugged and plugged in the system and now the monitor is showing moving, colored lines only.
Half Monitor is Colored lines.. How do I fix?
Thank you in advance.
I recently reformatted my computer by myself. Ever since then the bottom part of my screen is different color lines.
I can still feel for the start bottom and all like the mouse still detects functioning task bar and start button how I cannt see them because the colored lines is cutting off it being visible to me. Is there anyway to fix this without having to buy a brand new monitor? I have a Hannspree monitor. 24 inch.
Jagged colored lines cover monitor
I haven't noticed anything that would be causing it to happen, like using a certain program or website. Remove a side panel.Re-boot and check to see all fans are operational. If so remove all power sources and ground yourself to the case.Remove and re-seat the vid card.Connect all power and re-boot and see if this changes anything...P.S. Video card is nVidia GeForce 6100. Did you add this vid card ? ?eMachines are notorious for weak PSU's...
Sometimes they are randomly colored, sometimes just grey, black, and white. Its completely random ><Could someone give me an idea of what the problem could be?Edit: thought it might be helpful if i gave alittle info about my computer. It's a store bought Emachine, W3107, everything is factory besides the RAM. The lines always go left to right at an upward angle. Very randomly my monitor will go from normal to being completely covered in jagged colored lines.
I have XP as the OS, not sure if i need to give anything else.Thank you for help. I'll restart my PC and it will be fine. When it happens I can't see anything on my monitor but the lines, and really they are more like bars instead of lines.

Blinking red dots on monitor?
Red dots on monitor? - YouTube
My monitor is an hp 2010i monitor 20 inches
I haven't been able to find anyone who knows what's wrong. For some reason, only when I play my PS3 there are these tiny flashing red dots in the background.
I have my PS3 hooked up to my monitor via an HDMI-DVI cable. If you have any questions please let me know
I was thinking it was a problem with my monitor at first, but there are no flashing red dots in the background when I use my PC on the same monitor. Anyone have any ideas? Screen goes gray - YouTube
Here are some videos of exactly what will happen:
1. On some occasions, my monitor will randomly go gray, kind of like what happens when your cable has no signal and the tv goes all static.
How do I get rid of lines of red dots across my monitor?
It has been running very well apart from an irritating red dot problem. Occasionally I have seen the same lines of dots on a light coloured block in the centre right of the screen when the dots are pale blue and in the same formation. I believe that they began to appear once I started updating my pc with the latest windows 7 updates (x64 bit). I have also connected my monitor to my pc with an HDMI cable and they still appear.
I dont play computer games. My pc has an Intel i5 3570k processor (not over clocked) which has no additional graphics card and runs using the on board graphics HD 4000. They then appear again if I have an image in the centre of the screen which is a dark block. I have connected my monitor (a Hanns G HG 216D) to another computer to check that my monitor or cables were not at fault and the lines of red dots do not appear.
The line of dots only appears horizontally and in red on dark screens. These red dots didn't appear immediately when I first had the pc. The red dots appear each time I switch on the pc at the very bottom edge of the screen then when the Asus screen appears (motherboard is Asus p8z77-V LX) across the middle of the screen, then again when the windows 7 start up screen appears. In this case they are grouped together in a horizontal block to the centre right of the dark area.
Any advice on how to remove these dots would be gratefully appreciated. If I move the mouse over the red dots when they appear in a centre block...

The monitor started changing the font size last week when we would turn on or after sleep mode.
Odd colored vertical lines on Dell E193FP monitor
These lines do not show up on my second monitor (an envision) and they are incredibly annoying. I have had the monitor for a number of years, so that would not surprise me. How old and what type is this monitor?
In both cases, the lines show up through the entire screen horizontally, but not vertically (but these are vertical lines).
If I bring up the start menu, then there are green/yellow lines that go up to the height of the start menu, not the entire screen. It seems that the lines appear depending on what window is running. If I have the devices and printers window open, there are random blue lines that go through my entire screen. I just want to get a second opinion on the subject.
Happy Labor day everyone,
I just got back from a 3 day vacation to find that my dell monitor has some odd vertical lines showing up. Because of this and the fact that my other monitor does not have the problem, I am assuming that the issue is the fact that the monitor is quitting on me. I am unable to take a picture because a) my camera sucks b) these lines do not appear in screenshots.
