Dell Latitude D520 memory slot doesn't work

The D520 has a slot underneath the keyboard for memory, as well as underneath the laptop. It works fine. I tried various memory known to work. For now, I just run with 2 gig memory stick underneath the laptop.

I have this odd problem in my Dell Latitude D520 core2duo where one of the memory slots isn't working anymore. I would just get three green lights next to the power key. I tried cleaning the memory slot with an air can.

I even took the memory from underneath the laptop and placed it under the keyboard because it worked underneath. But once I placed the memory in the slots under the keyboard, it would not startup. You may have to live with a single DIMM in the bottom slot.

One stayed, the other 2 blinked; they all eventually stopped entirely.

When ever I put memory in the slot under the keyboard, it won't startup. I am assuming a motherboard issue. Just yesterday the Laptop would not startup but lights on the front panel came on, so I suspected a memory issue. I've never encountered this before.

Any suggestion greatly appreciated.

Sure sounds like the socket is bad, or the memory controller. Once I removed the memory, it would start up.

Headset microphone doesn't work Dell Latitude 3340

So if I try to speak the sound comes from my internal microphone in my laptop but not from my headset, and the sound comes from my headphones. No problem, I bought a microphone and headphone splitter. You might be able to adjust that on the Listen tab of the mic properties.

It only shows headphones, or microphone. I can't use them combined! But my laptop cant recognize my headset as a headset. First find the mic on the Recording tab of the Sound properties, then open the mic's properties and select the Listen tab.

Recently I bought a headset, so I can chat with friends while I am playing games with them, but it doesn't work as I want it to. Greetings,
Jelle

The splitters have a poor track record with Dell laptops. These things are very inexpensive at Amazon and elsewhere.

jelkiAnd exactly the other way around: if I can speak through my microphone, the sound doesn't come in my headphones but from the internal speakers in my laptop. Dell Latitude c400 Doesn't Want to Connect

The only thing I can get is power save options or something that are default on my laptop and aren't default on the desktops I've configured... I have absolutely no idea what's going on. Still no luck. So I assume the network card is fried, and dig up an old Linksys Wireless B Network Adapter (v 2.8) that worked for two computers that were upstairs in my house fine (and again, I set this up myself).

There's not really much I can mess up, it's DHCP. Wireless connection is unavailable, even though the adapter thingy is sitting RIGHT ON TOP OF the router. Also on some dell laptops you need to press the function key with one of the F keys to enable the card.

I installed XP on it, then installed the drivers for my network card.

I install the drivers for that, turn off the WEP key security on my router, make sure wireless is enabled, make sure the thing is plugged in via the USB port. Is wireless Zero configuraion running? Plugged the cable in, did the network connection wizard (which I have used without problem on three other computers working on the same router).

So I got a Dell Latitude c400 a while ago, it came equipped with a 3Com 3C920 NIC card.

Network cable unplugged. But it doesn't work. Still no luck. My router's a Linksys Wireless-B that I got at Wal-Mart.

Used the cable and slot that works for my desktop.

Latitude E5420, Microphone Doesn't Work, Win 10

Select the Compatibility tab.10. Find the "setup.exe" file.7. DoctorDre225can't find the drivers on dell's website
There are two places to find the drivers:
1. Follow the links to the E5420 htm page.

DoctorDre225we've tried a few drivers on their site as well.  Any ideas would be great! Restart the laptop and go back to the Device Manager and check again for a Realtek driver. If the driver begins to install automatically, halt (cancel) the installation.5. On the E5420 support page.

Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Remove any other audio drivers that you might have installed. Download and save the audio driver to your desktop or any convenient location on the hard drive.  [There are two "formats" on the driver's page. A simpler way is to go to Dell's ftp server.

Next, click the blue "Change OS"  button (see pic) to see the operating system options (XP, Vista, 7, 8, Unbuntu, Free DOS).

2. If the driver installs, test the mic. Scroll down to the 2nd one, named "Hard Drive" format, and download that one, not the 1st one named "Windows Update Package".]2. Btw, I have an E5420, but am sticking with 7.

Select the Properties.9. The IDT company went out of the consumer audio business before Windows 10 came out, so there will never be a Win10 IDT audio driver for the E5420. An IDT dr...

Latitude e6530 doesn't recognise original Dell chargers

Also 90W or 130W charger for an i7 3720qm + nvidia NVS 5200 onboard VGA combo? I'm guessing there is an ID chip somewhere which is faulty and doesn't detect any of the chargers (all the chargers work on other Dell laptops).

Obviously I can't flash the BIOS, because it doesnt recognise the AC adapter... If the motherboard is faulty, is it repairable via soldering? BIOS says every original Dell adapter I plug in is "Unknown AC adapter", even after I replaced the power jack to a brand new original one.

I've recently bought my first Dell laptop, and couldn't be happier with the build quality, but the reliability doesn't seem that great.

Dell Latitude E6410 - Battery Doesn't Charge fully

So my question is, is there any place I can download an updated driver? Please help. I've updated the BIOS already, tried uninstalling the ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery Driver and reinstalling it.

Thank you!!!! When I first turned on the computer it charged to around 72 percent.
Then after the first recharge, it only went up to around 48 percent. Repeated again, and only got around 39 percent and now it seems to stay there. Perhaps there's an updated driver somewhere?

My Operating System is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The one on my computer states that its from 06/21/2006.

Dell Latitude Cpi Won't Work

I bought a Latitude Cpi from a co-worker. Please help I will try any suggestion. The co-woprker had this loaded for the past year and it worked fine with no problems. After he bought his new laptop he gave me the Xircom Cardbus 10/100 and 56K modem.

I have had a terrible time with this Laptop and am desperate for help with a solution. It would run through the BIOS but would not load Win2K. I am really out of ideas. I did this after I formated the harddrive again.

I next tried Win 98. Win 98 loaded a couple times and then did the same thing. Win2k would load but would not take all the way.

I have tried these solutions so far. I do have this posed on the Dell Forums but theye are a little slow to suggestions. I have had no fewer that 10 people who are pretty efficeint with laptops and PC's look at this and they can't figure it out. I next put in Win ME.

I then would shut down hard and restart and it would not load at all. No it is back to the same as above in that it won’t load WIN Me like the other operting systems. Specs of the laptop:

Latitude Cpi D266XT

PII

64 Megs Ram

Bios A12

Intially when I got this Laptop it had Win2K. It detected the PCI Controller and Bridge just fine which is a Texas Instruments.

This has been a problem now for 1 and a half months. I reformatted again and Win ME did load a couple times fine. Before this my co-worker never had a modem in this laptop. During this time I am able to get into Safe Mod...

Dell Latitude D 600- does not work

That is what it owner said to me when I asked to take a 'poke'
Well it does work - it fires up that is- the touch pad control works fine
So I thought a good clean up- de frag will do the trick-- but--
It's probleem seems to be that although the pointer moves around the screen and I get the hour glass as a click the appropriate icon/file simply does not respond or takes a great deal of time to get going and then respond once more to another command,
So the question is- when I eventually get it to carry out the normal defrag- clean up etc., will there still be an underlying problem? A defrag won't do any harm and there's only one way to find out the difference it makes and that is by running it - when you get it to run of course.

Bluetooth headset doesn't work on latitude e5540 - win 7

Is there something on dell's site I could use? It shows that there is an issue with the driver for this device that it can't find it but this is a plug and play type of device.
I went to device manager and saw yellow exclamation marks on Bluetooth peripheral device and here is the hardware id of errors:

Dell Latitude D610 Wifi Won't Work

I've gone to dell's site and updated drivers and done basically everything I've seen others do on forums. So it's not there with a yellow exclamation mark over it; when it is on there it's fine but it's hardly there ever. I've even removed the wireless card and reconnected it to see if it'd work but no luck. Click to expand...

I have a Dell Latitude D610 and my problem is that the wifi light won't come on. What's interesting is that once in awhile, my wifi light comes on and my wifi will work for maybe 30 seconds and then it disappears. When i go to device manager, my broadcom 802.11g adapter sometimes shows up but usually it isn't there. Basically I've tried just about everything and I'd welcome someone who has more experience with this kind of thing to help me out.

I've done the Fn+F2 thing and all that is enabled is bluetooth. I've even removed the wireless card and reconnected it to see if it'd work but no luck. that would have been my first suggestion - sounds like the adapter is intermittently faulty

but
What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG , Webroot etc

Alt Codes don't work on Dell Latitude D610, XP, Why?

I am running XP.. Any ideas how to enable it? i cannot make the Alt codes work. Ctrl Alt Del does work, but special characters do not.

they never have. I suspect it is an issue with the keyboard. 1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. I have a Dell Latitude D 610 Laptop.

The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk. Plug in a usb keyboard and try that.

USB webcam does not work on Dell Latitude D620

I have tried 3 different webcams which all work on different laptops. It works fine with several desktops I tried, but when I try to use it with my Dell Latitude D620 laptop running Windows XP Pro, it does not install properly. The error message I get is that the driver is either missing or corrupt.  I tried a different plug & play USB  camera that works with other computers running Windows XP, but got the same error message on my laptop.

Any idea how to get this fixed?

Latitude E7440 - memory card reader doesn't work after bios update

My OS: Windows 10 Pro (x64)

I have exactly the same problem. The last working version of BIOS is A15 where you can use a memory card reader. Of course, without a memory card system will get up normally but when you again put the memory card the system still can't see it.

Last working version is A15.

IS dell latitude e5420 can work with LG IPS external monitor

I recommend connecting the display using HDMI instead of VGA because you will get a sharper picture that way.
That laptop will work with both displays.
