Error 0x8007007e

Mod Edit:  Split from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/513138/unable-to-logon-a-problem-is-preventingchecking-license/ - Hamluis.

I have the same problem, and since the proposed fix is shown, thought I would continue the question [since fix cannot be done].

Have been using XP SP2 and installed SP3 several weeks ago.  All was working great, therefore I backed up my work via Ghost....several times.  I did have a problem though that prompted me to restore back to an earlier restore point, several times and different restore points and all worked fine.

The last time though I thought the problem I was having might be due to SP3, so I restored to a restore point that was created before I installed SP3.  When the computer rebooted, I received the error code above 0x8007007e  Warning states that the license cannot be verified.  I do have the license on the shiny mirrored sticker that is on the box for the original disk.  I can get to the user log in screen [I am the only one who has used this computer since it was new and I have the discs that came with it new] and after logging in, it shows the error code and shuts down.  I cannot get into the computer to even attempt to fix by the suggested fix.

I really like my old clogger [have a new Macbook Pro but prefer the old MS].  I need help to solve....please.  [If this should be posted new...let me know and I can do that.]

error 0x8007007e when attempting to open programs or pictures larger

i would appreciate the help very much and i thank you all for your time

also i posted this in the performance section because i figured since it was photoviewer and other programs, all different types of programs that this would be the right section, i hope it is, and im sorry if it is not. Have you tried running system restore to a time you didn't have this issue? System Restore

when i try to do a search on this error everything i find is related to windows updates mainly not being able to update.

its a windows 7 x64 computer, now the programs im using are basic programs that have worked for me for close to 2 years, recently when i try to view a picture larger or open programs(any program at all) i get this error 0x8007007e says there was an error and the program could not be opened showing me that error, sometimes the programs will still open anyways, sometimes i have to retry multiple times, and other times i have to restart the pc to make it work. im at a loss on what could fix this problem.

Outlook "Unknown Error 0x8007007E"

I tend to thing this is more of a system/Office level problem, vice Outlook, because of the errors in Word/Excel. Recently did a XP pro install (instead of a plain upgrade), which didn't help. No help. I thought it was some Microsoft spyware that was unhappy about the new hardware, and ran the upgrade for XP to reregister.

Also, IE didn't work initially, but magically started to work OK. I can send mail with no problems. not sure which XP or Office reload did it... I checked for, and found, inetcomm.dll in the System32 folder.

I recently replaced the hard disk on my Dell PC using the disk copy utility which came with the hard disk. Everything seemed OK until I tried to run Microsoft Office 2003 applications. I downloaded a registry cleaner to see if that would help. I was unable to run the Office repair utility or even uninstall/reinstall the package.

I found and ran the scanpst.exe utility which found/fixed errors in my pst file, but did not fix the problem. Any new suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Other Office apps (Word, Excel) launch but give me a "Preparing to install" window when loading.

I downloaded and ran the Windows "install cleanup" utility and removed/re-installed Office 2003 to no avail. or the registry or who knows...

The main problem is Outlook which gives me the error "Unknown Error 0x8007007E" when trying to receive email. Maybe now, I shou...

Microsoft update : 0x8007007E on Windows 7

I have an 0x8007007E error while trying to use Microsoft Update on IE8. However, Windows update (the one built in windows) works but it only gives me updates for windows. Windows Update should take care of updating IE8, it is a change from the former way of doing updates. I have an 0x8007007E error while trying to use Microsoft Update on IE8.

P.S. - Sorry for the delay in responding, but it looks like the issue is solved for you.

Windows update error.. System File Checker integrity error..iTunes install error

Sounded reasonable so I fired up Windows Update but that gave me an error and wouldn't start checking for updates.

I managed to get it to check for updates, but now when it starts the process, I get the following:
I Googled the error code "8007007E" and tried a few things to try and fix it.

I downloaded the windowsupdatediagnostic.diagcab, found on Microsoft's site, here:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=windows-7
I tried resetting the Windows Update reset tool, using "MicrosoftFixit50202", found here:http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683
I download the system readiness tool, found here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3132
I tried a clean boot.

I tried renaming the Windows Update Softwaredistribution folder.

None of this worked.

I ran the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) and the results said I had bad files, but I don't know how to fix them. It generated a CBS log, which is too large for me to post (10MB) , so I've uploaded to dropbox, here:https://www.dropbox.com/s/upin8te29z8lcx4/CBS.log?dl=0
And a sfcdetails log, which from what I understand, is a easier-to-read version of the CBS log, which I've attached in the following post. Currently storing 0 datablocks. Successfully processed all directives.

Thank you for your help

Visual Runtime Error, Sound Error, Norton Disabled, Media Player Error & MORE

I downloaded about 50 .mpg files and put them into a folder on my desktop. Later, it popped up a message saying that my Media Player needed to be reinstalled and that my Norton Antivirus needed to be reinstalled. Anyway, to make a long story short, I gave up on this whole problem and merely took the whole folder full of .mpg's and ran in through a file-shredding program. How can this be?

My immediate thought was that it was a virus or trojan, but Norton VirusScan, Swat-It Trojan Scanner, and System Suite VirusScan all failed to detect anything, and all of them have their definitions up to date. I called my manufacturer's tech support and they said that I should use system restore, which wasn't an option since I had deleted my last checkpoint to run a Norton Virusscan in Safe Mode. They then said the only thing they could think of was to reformat my harddrive. Now EVERYTHING is back to normal!

The only problem with that was that Windows would not let me access the advanced sound settings! At the same time as this, windows would pop up a little message saying that my virtual memory was low. I ran a Google search to see what other things I should try and none of the following worked: 1) patching/upgrading my Norton LiveUpdate, 2) uninstalling/reinstalling Windows Media Player, 3) running chkdisk, 4) running SpyBot Search & Destroy, etc. Then it disabled my Norton Firewall and my Norton Antivirus.

Lastly, I started getting error messages...

Error code=0x80004005; Error source=Groove __ Microsoft SkyDrive Pro Error

Clear all browsing history on IE
2. i did some googling and followed a few fixes with no luck. Run IE as administrator and resync the libraries normally

Those are the only instructions I found that made sense.

does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

1.

i have not been able to solve this one for a particular user. due to some other office issues, i wiped his machine and reinstalled windows. skydrive pro stopped syncing.

Stop syncing all Skydrive Pro folders (have the remaining folders moved away from the original location to avoid duplicate renamed folders)
3. it produces the error in the title. with a fresh install of windows and office 365 he is still getting the error when syncing skydrive.

Run-time error '3000 ': Reserved Error (-3201); there is no message for this error.

when you're working in one form with one record, you click on a button that will open another form and filter the records to show only the profile of the same person. i will show below the code where it debugs. the error message it gives is: Run-time error '3000 ': Reserved Error (-3201); there is no message for this error.

I'd appreciate any help with that.
(Again: it works well on my computer, but gives that message on another computer)

Blue Screen IO Error. Verification Error In Wmiacpi.sys (WMD Driver Error 20e)

Ive just bought some new memory (TWIN2X4096-8500C5C G), the new memory doesnt seem to work unless I only add one stick, and even with that I get blue screen errors. So from reading a few pages on teh internet I put my old memory back in, and ran windows driver verifier. Upon restarting I got and keep getting teh following BSOD.

IO SYSTEM VERIFICATION ERROR in wmiacpi.sys (WDM driver error 20e)

[wmiacpi.sys+152f at B7C5C52F]

If the system ran fine...before you added RAM...then you need to see if the new RAM (by itself)...works.The new RAM may not be compatible with your old RAM, in which case the system will run fine with one or the other...but not both. The Driver Verifier tool is tricky to use, I would disregard that effort...for the moment.Remove your old RAM...put the new RAM in...see if the system works properly.FWIW: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/153175/blue-screen-io-error-verification-error-in-wmiacpisys-wmd-driver-error-20e/Louis
