Working on a laptop computer gives you flexibility and portability. Since it is prone to frequent transfer, manufacturers make sure that their systems can withstand almost every risk including spills, transport and jostling. However, laptops are still prone to wear and tear both inside and outside. Laptop errors may include hard drive failure, system crash, not enough memory and virus infestation.

Apart from the time delays on your computer work and the lost productivity, there is also the issue of expenses to fix the errors, not to mention the calls to tech support. For fatal laptop errors, some cases may require you ship your laptop back to the manufacturer for repairs.

Can anyone shed light on this for me? I'm perplex as to how remove these two hidden screws and complete this installation. Everything is great until I get to the remove keyboard assembly part. Series 2890B

SONY Support Country Selection Page

You have a European version. Mike

all of these i had to copy and paste. You will need to go to the above link and find the 64bit driver for the keyboard. Now bear in mind i have 32 bit on another partition and it works fine. UK isn't listed as available there so select the country on the first page.

i just installed win 7 ultimate 64bit on my Sony VAIO VGN-FW31E laptop. but 64bit i have a broblem with my keyboard. Install on the Win 7 64bit.

or how much use it's had, but both problems are certainly something that can happen with age and continuous use. Both the keyboard and the CD drive are replaceable items, but the work may not be cost-effective in an old machine.

Dropping a laptop can do all kinds of damage... If you're not comfortable taking laptops apart, you will have to take it to a computer repair shop

Ive got a toshiba laptop and i went to sleep watching a dvd on it.

Laptop Power Board

After having talked to the manufacturer service dept and finding out that they will charge about twice what I paid for a repair, I took the thing apart and found a smoked capacitor on what appears to be a power supply board. The next boot it came up black. Call the manufacturer again and ask them to sell you just the part as long as you know what it is. Most of them will be glad to send you one or point you to a depot center where u can buy one.

When I booted it up I heard a "hissing" like noise and the display came up dark but under a bright light I could see the wallpaper and icons.

I have a CompUSA notebook with a screen that has gone black. Does anyone know of a source for parts?

Sony MBX-30 laptop board identification

Is there anybody out there with Sony knowledge who might be able to help me id this board and the needed cpu so I can get back in business? I tried to buy a cheap replacement from ebay but by mistake I bought the wrong MBX-30 board (1-675-068-21) and the my pcg-370 450mhz cpu doesn't work in it. Sony refuses to tell me which PCG-FXXX model the 1-675-068-21 MBX-30 board is from that I bought by mistake.

Thus, I cannot buy the appropriate cpu so that I can get up and running again.

Having laptop issues...maybe system board?

Usually some could get it working if they pressed the sides of the laptop monitor. If its something i can do myself, ill do that instead of sending it back again and going through the pain in the *****. If it works fine then it is your laptop monitor. I have to wait for the battery to die for it to shut off.

Some people that I went to college with had the same problem as you have, only got lines showing on the monitor (but their's happened after their warranty ran out). At this point I wouldn't even want them to replace the monitor. Its been working just fine. Hope this helps.

Do you have a desktop? I tried a few other times and i got the same results. on the invoice it says 'repaired', but then when i turn it on, its still doing the same stuff. Im unable to do anything, i cant reboot, cant move the mouse, cant even put the computer in hybernation mode.

So after calling HP a million times, i sent it in, and today i got it back. hu_nr

Just an idea, but I would definitely try the test first and see what you get.

But here's the story, i bought a laptop about 6 months ago. If so, plug your desktop monitor into your laptop and then turn it on. does anyone know what could be causing this? If it works send it back and tell them you want a new laptop or a refund.

Then 3 weeks ago..all of a sudden, i turn it on, and i get to the login screen, and i start seeing lines across it and then it flickers. i...

water spilled on laptop key board

I spilled some water on my hp laptop. The laptop is a HP Pavilion Entertainment and runs Vista. I turned it upside down immediately and shaked it a little so the water would come out and left it upside down all weekend.

Turned it on today and it works perfectly EXCEPT I have no sound. I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions. I did all the trouble shooting I knew and the computer says everything is working fine. Could water spilled on the laptop cause the sound to go out.

coca spillage on laptop key board

Can't you claim on your house insurance?
my question is this - as coca cola is extremely acidic and contains sugar, is it repairable?i am thinking of corrosion over a period of time and the heat from the laptop which will exacerbate this process.i want to talk to Dell but i thought i will ask for help here first to prepare me for talk with dell. it is under warranty but not covered for accidental damage. somebody accidently spilt coca cola on the key board of my daughter's Dell laptop.

it works but only when connected to the mains. she drained and dried the keyboard for 24 hours after removing the battery.
pl can anyone advise me how to proceed?

why does my laptop 'system board' keep failing

System boards can be damaged by faulty power supplies, memory or other internal components. Or is there other bad practises that can cause 'system board' failure. Check with the Toshiba agent who repaired the computer, repairs often (and always should) carry their own warranty.
There's nothing you can do to damage a system (mother) board other than blocking the ventilation slots or (possibly) plugging in a faulty peripheral.

The bad news is that this warranty runs out next Month (August) I fear then future repairs are going to be costly (As informed by recent posting about my laptop problem)So what causes a 'system board' to fail twice so easily, the machine is not used professionally, just home use. OS is XP pro. Thankfully this was done by a warranty repair (I didn't realise I had any warranty left, until I phoned Toshiba).

I recently had my laptop (Toshiba tecra M1)repaired for the 2nd time this year with a new 'system board' being fitted again by a Toshiba agent. I do tend to leave the charger plugged in most of the time (but not always switched on) as the battery does seem to loose it's charged easily.

Windows 10 laptop key board issues

Some key board buttons just stopped working. Help please

Laptop power board issue

It seems as though there are problems with the power circuit board and/or DC jack because the computer does not know when it is plugged in; the battery icon in the taskbar always shows that it is plugged in and because if that I cannot tell when the plug has wiggled loose and so if I am using the laptop for any prolonged time and the plug does wiggle loose (it does not take much for this to happen) and I don't realize it, I don't receive any low battery warnings or anything; the only way I know the plug has come out in this case is when the computer completely dies and shuts off.

I have an Alienware Sentia M3450 and for a while now I have been having problems getting it to charge. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

If it helps, the area of the computer where the DC jack is located often becomes extremely hot-- to the point where I can't even touch it.
