How To Fix Need a new Mouse
Need a new Mouse is the name of the error that contains information about the error, including the reason why it occurred, which system component or application was malfunctioning that caused the error, and other information. The numerical code in the name of the error contains data that can be decoded by the manufacturer of the faulty component or application. An error using this code can occur in many different places in the system. Although the name contains some details, it is still difficult for the user to find and eliminate the cause of the error without specialized technical knowledge or the appropriate software.
From the Forums
A user in the forum details it further:
I use it for gaming and its especially good for shooting games. Thanx If i were you I would get the logitech G5 dude. I opened the mouse to see its interior and I see the middle button got wasted. So, I would like to know the best mice which cost about $15.
I play a lot of games. Today I was rolling the middle button of my A4tech mouse and suddenly it the page would roll together with the middle button. Well I have been using this mouse for 8 years and I guess its high time I change.
What causes Need a new Mouse
If you received this error on your PC, it means that there is a malfunction in your system. Common causes are incorrect or unsuccessful installation or removal of software that could leave invalid entries in the Windows registry, the effects of a virus or malware attack, an incorrect system shutdown due to a power failure, or another factor in which a person with little technical knowledge accidentally deletes the required A system file or registry entry, as well as several other reasons. The immediate cause of "Need a new Mouse" is a failure when one of its normal operations is properly started by a system or application component.

Mouse problem: Any external mouse. Touchpad OK. Mouse OK in Safe Mode.
These are wired mice, so it's not a battery or connection issue. Another USB port - same problem in all four. Adjusting the click/double-click/drag settings doesn't seem to change anything.
Hey mate, and welcome,
1. Mouse itself is bad. Clicking/dragging seems to show the same results in the RAM/CPU monitors whether I'm having the problem (with the mouse) or performing the same actions without the problem (with the trackpad). WHAT I'VE TRIED:
Laptop touchpad - no problem.
Another mouse - same problem. If it doesn't work, try without any driver (so that windows driver takes over).
Either the button itself or internally
2. Driver is not at its best
Going to the mouse manufacture website to download the most recent driver for your Windows 7, either 32 or 64 bit.
I'll be very grateful. From what I can tell, this affects only the left click and not the right. In that time, I don't think I had installed any new software or made significant (voluntary) changes to the PC. What else could be causing the issue?
The problem came on suddenly after about a year, but I can't pinpoint the moment, because I didn't use an external mouse for a while (maybe eight weeks) and when I plugged it in again, the problem had appeared. As a designer/illustrator, it's frustrating to use the touchpad for detailed vector work, so I'm pretty crippled by the loss of the external mouse. WHAT I CANNOT FIGURE OUT:
What haven't I ruled out? Mouse ...
Mouse/mouse connection/mouse port not working
My mouse/mouse connection is misbehaving. Normally it shows you the battery levels of both the keyboard and the mouse but this time it only showed the keyboard. The end of the cable from the mouse receiver is a USB plug, which you then attach to a mouse port adaptor so that you can plug it directly into the mouse port on the computer. When I switched it on today, however, the pointer on the screen wouldn?t move with my mouse. I therefore have a solution for the short-term.
The mouse then started to work immediately. My PC hasn?t sustained any physical impacts between yesterday and today so the USB-mouse port adaptor shouldn?t be damaged. My mouse is a Logitech Cordless.
I changed the batteries, I disconnected it and reconnected it and restarted my machine a number of times but still it wouldn?t work. I removed the adaptor and plugged the naked USB plug directly into a spare USB port. The only other thing that suggested something wasn?t right was when I clicked on the Logitech icon on my desktop. My PC was working fine yesterday.
I do not, however, want to leave the set-up like this, as I am now engaging a USB port for the mouse unnecessarily while the dedicated mouse port lies redundant, plus when you click on the Logitech icon it still doesn?t register the mouse.Any ideas as to what?s gone wrong? I looked at the Hardware Manager but gleaned no useful information. Have you tried pressing the small button on the mouse see if that helps.Pr...
Mouse not working, Device Manager shows PS/2 Compatible Mouse exclamation mark
So I did an online search and found a fix. Again that did not solve the problem. They gave me the run around for 3 days for such a simple problem.
It was a very simple problem and needed a very simple fix:
I was able to fix this problem by adding a missing MultiString value to this registry key:
Value Type: Multi String
Value Name: UpperFilters
An article that explains it in a very round-about way is here:
The Multi String Value Name: UpperFilters was missing so I added it and the mouse started working and everything is good to go!
I did both and mouse still didn't work. I was very disappointed with the Dell support team I contacted. The mouse stopped working both USB and Bluetooth. Touchpad worked fine.
I had this problem after a Win 10 update. I thought there must be another simpler way to solve this problem. So I called Dell tech support and they suggested I uninstall Windows update and re-install the chipset drivers that they provided.
Then they suggested I do a Windows reinstall. Then tech support suggested I do a Windows Restore. I tested a different mouse and that didn't work either. At this point I got annoyed since I have 30 pr...
Diagnostic software for lock ups jumpy mouse curser and mouse is slow to react.
Is there what is considered the best software for registry and pc error problems? What is the system and specs and what kind of malware and A/V do you have? Cheers, qldit.
PCpitstop is one that I know of and PCBiginner is another.
My computer started getting slow then it started losing the mouse and locking up and the mouse is slow to react and the curser is jumpy.
Good Morning mayersr, I don't know of software applicable for this kind of problem apart from malware products. Are you aware this symptom is very likely a viral kind of problem.
Solved: mouse moving irradically, keyboard and mouse not working on restart, trojan?

Satellite A100-283 mouse movement causes screen to fluttering/mouse "split"
When the curser is parked in one of the corners of the screen, it appears "split" into to 2 lines. Would appreciate any help. Tried to download the display driver but it had no effect.
Suddenly the screen began nervously fluttering different images heavily. When I park the mouse/ curser in a corner or the far sides of the screen, the fluttering stops. Can you please tell us which operating system do you use? Does the same happen when you start Windows in safe mode?
I presume you can notice this issue when OS is fully loaded, right? I cannot use the computer. PS: Computer wasn?t dropped, no liquid accident, it just began this fluttering during surfing from one second to the next.
Mouse config application doest recognize mouse (razer Copperhead)
I have a Razer Copperhead gaming mouse and i installed the application that allows you to customize it. What might be the issue?
The computer at startup recognizes the mouse in the USB port however the application that controls the mouse does not.
Mouse freezes, followed by system lag and mouse icon turns fuzzy *pics
Also, even though you are not getting a blue screen: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html
Those will help us determine application/system hangs, as well. It nearly always happens when i am browsing in firefox. which is why i'm hesitant to believe it is to do with my GPU or it's drivers which are always kept up to date. i have included pics of the cursor and what processes were running at the time of the freeze/lag
What security software do you have installed?
If i reset my computer it resolves the issue but i was hoping you guys may be able to give me more insight as to what the issue may be. Have never had it happen to me during gaming etc. Please list anything realtime that scans for spyware, malware, viruses, provides a firewall, etc.
My computer qwill freeze for a few seconds followed by system lag which seems to get worse (freezing every few seconds/taking 2 seconds to recognise a click etc.). They include your Event Viewer logs.
Old mouse is dual optical; does that matter anymore? (Replacement mouse needed)
Several years ago I picked up a Logitech dual optical mouse and've loved using it: the shape and weight as well as its precision have been great for both regular computing and gaming. Flipping through a couple computer hardware websites it looks like a lot of mice are single-optical and still 800 dpi... Like I mentioned, one of the things I love about this mouse is its shape: it's not exactly centered but kind of wiggles off to the right at its tail end so it contours my hand better. I spent $30 on this mouse back when I got it and would be looking to spend about the same now.
Am I going to be losing pointer precision by going back to a single-op mouse? However, it's starting to fall apart (it seems slower to respond and a couple days ago the "feet" on the bottom started coming off) and so I'm looking to replace it. I also like the single thumb button on the side.
Can anyone recommend a replacement mouse, whether it be Logitech or otherwise? My question is, my current mouse's specs list two optical sensors at 800 dpi each. m19

Logitech HID-compliant Cordless Mouse - middle mouse button issue
which i think is up to date.
Have you gone to Mouse in the Vista Control Panel and see what choices you are given there to manage the mouse?
With my old computer and mouse, I used to be able to use the middle button for various tasks susch as opening a link in another tab, rotating the camera in games etc and i have got very used to this. I don't know if this is a problem with the mouse or with vista, or with me not finding some setting. If it helps, my mouse driver is version 18.104.22.168.
I am running Vista Home Premium x32, and i am unable to use the middle button for this. Yesterday it started working - i don't know why - but today it has failed again and is back to the zoom function. Is there a model number? What does it say the mouse is if you look at the bottom of the mouse itself?
If i hold down the CTRL button and left click, this is the same as middle button should be, so is there any way i can swap these functions around?
I recently purchased a Dell XPS One and am using the mouse which came with it which, according to Device Manager, is the Logitech HID Compliant Cordless Mouse.
Recent windows update kill mouse drivers and/or mouse operation
I have a generic Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. Here is a list of the 11 updates--I presume one of them is the cause:
1) Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista (KB947864)
2) Security Update for ActiveX Killbits for Windows Vista (KB948881)
3) Security Update for Windows Vista (KB941693)
4) Security Update for Windows Vista (KB945553)
5) Security Update for Windows Vista (KB948590)
6) Update for Windows Vista (KB938371)
7) Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - April 2008 (KB890830)
8) Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter [April 2008] (KB905866)
9) Security Update for Microsoft Office Visio 2007 (KB947590)
10) Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB949037)
11) Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB946691)
Obviously, my next step would be to install each update individually and try to identify the potential cause, but before doing that I thought I'd come here and see if anyone has heard about this sort of thing happening before and how to work around it. Anyway, I used System Restore to return my computer to the period just before installing the updates and the mouse worked again. I had a recent round of Windows updates for Vista and one of them apparently killed my mouse.
Bump to the top.
My guess is that something happens to the drivers after one of the updates. Vista recognizes the mouse as a "HID-compliant mouse".
The keyboard co...

[Solved] Optical mouse's scroll wheel won't work ne where; no brand name on the mouse
It came from Office Depot and it has no disk/CD. When I plugged it in it did not load anything else and I tried Add/Remove Hardware, but it didn't find anything new. It has no brand name anywhere on the mouse so I can't look for a new driver.
Is there anything else I can do?
I got an optical mouse with a scroll wheel for Christmas last year and the scroll wheel won't work on anything (IE, Compuserve, Netscape).
Mouse scroll and keyboard stop working until left click of mouse
Flash keeps crashing. If the issue has been resolved, go ahead and reinstall windows Updates. Tool bar on browser also greys out but comes back after left click. Windows 7 pro.
Afterwards, test functionally of mouse and keyboard. If no change, run System Restore, choose a Restore point before the issue started. John
Remove anything the programs find.
This occurs on Firefox, Chrome and IE. Any ideas whats wrong?
After about 1 minute the mouse scroll and keyboard stop working until I left click mouse.
Not sure if this is related. Asus desktop. Again test behavior of mouse and keyboard. Video and sound also are choppy.
Note: if you need some suggestions on which tools to use, let me know.
Video freezes, downloads pause - Unless I contstantly move mouse. Moving mouse tiring
New laptop, only a few months old - Windows Seven Home Premium. Please do not close the thread until we get a solution... Scanned and nothingthere wrong - as did everyone else. This thread describes the problem too: an example of a closed thread: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vi...se-moving.html
When downloading anything I have to constantly move mouse/cursor or it pauses. P.s. If I click a video on youtube or anything I have to tickle my mouse pad constantly or video freezes and only audio plays.
I can find all over the internet five years worth of people that cannot watch videos, download, buffer, or even load pages unless they are constantly moving their mouse. Although this problem is raised in forum after forum, and question area - not one of them has the answer - and the threads just get closed off. Here is a typical thread of which there are many that has been closed without a resolution being posted. Please don't close this thread, please could tech guy be the first to actually solve this in five years?
Please please someone help. Can anyone actually answer this one? Thank you for reading - Julietstorm. Did anyone anywhere ever get this sorted and can they come back and say what they did to resolve it please?
bluetooth keyboard K810 and mouse T630 at the same time, repeating keys and mouse starts to stutter
Solved! I put the value to "Disable" and now works everything like charm. Best regards, jC Broadcom manual:Bluetooth CollaborationBluetooth Collaboration enables general purpose input/output transmit suppression protocol between the IEEE 802.11 media access control (MAC) and an external Bluetooth chip to minimize transmit interference. MS Keyboard and Mouse driver not working for left handed mouse
Any clues how to make the wheel button give double click for left hand mouse? If I change to right hand mouse, the wheel button gives double click as expected. But the wheel button brings up the context menu instead of double click.
I also set the wheel button to be "double click".
I use left handed mouse, and swapping left / buttons works OK. Have you tried searching for an updated driver for Windows 10?
