A mistake or inaccuracy, an error is caused about by committing miscalculations on the things that you do. It is a state of having a wrong judgement or conception in your conduct that allows catastrophic things to happen. In machines, error is a way to measure the difference between the observed value or the computed value of an event against its real value.

It is a deviation from correctness and accuracy. When errors occur, machines crash, computers freeze and softwares stop working. Errors are mostly unintentional events to happen. Most of the time, errors are a result of poor management and preparation.

A user in the forum details it further:

Please help me!   I turn my computer on, the logon screen loads, I enter my password, it says loading settings and then an error message pops up "A problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the license for this computer". So basically I paid 49 dollars to have a mental breakdown!

I paid dell 49 dollars just for them to tell me that I would have to reinstall windows and lose everything on my computer. Please tell me they're wrong!

What causes PLEASE HELP with windows xp error message 0x8007007e

Whenever you see windows error on your screen, the easiest and safest way to fix it is to reboot your computer. Just like our bodies needing a shut eye for several minutes, our computers also need to shut down once in awhile. A quick reboot can refresh your programs and gives your computer a clean slate to start a new venture. More often than not, it also eliminates the errors you have encountered after rebooting. Error 0x8007007e

Mod Edit:  Split from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/513138/unable-to-logon-a-problem-is-preventingchecking-license/ - Hamluis.

I have the same problem, and since the proposed fix is shown, thought I would continue the question [since fix cannot be done].

Have been using XP SP2 and installed SP3 several weeks ago.  All was working great, therefore I backed up my work via Ghost....several times.  I did have a problem though that prompted me to restore back to an earlier restore point, several times and different restore points and all worked fine.

The last time though I thought the problem I was having might be due to SP3, so I restored to a restore point that was created before I installed SP3.  When the computer rebooted, I received the error code above 0x8007007e  Warning states that the license cannot be verified.  I do have the license on the shiny mirrored sticker that is on the box for the original disk.  I can get to the user log in screen [I am the only one who has used this computer since it was new and I have the discs that came with it new] and after logging in, it shows the error code and shuts down.  I cannot get into the computer to even attempt to fix by the suggested fix.

I really like my old clogger [have a new Macbook Pro but prefer the old MS].  I need help to solve....please.  [If this should be posted new...let me know and I can do that.]

i would appreciate the help very much and i thank you all for your time

also i posted this in the performance section because i figured since it was photoviewer and other programs, all different types of programs that this would be the right section, i hope it is, and im sorry if it is not. Have you tried running system restore to a time you didn't have this issue? System Restore

when i try to do a search on this error everything i find is related to windows updates mainly not being able to update.

its a windows 7 x64 computer, now the programs im using are basic programs that have worked for me for close to 2 years, recently when i try to view a picture larger or open programs(any program at all) i get this error 0x8007007e says there was an error and the program could not be opened showing me that error, sometimes the programs will still open anyways, sometimes i have to retry multiple times, and other times i have to restart the pc to make it work. im at a loss on what could fix this problem.

Microsoft update : 0x8007007E on Windows 7

I have an 0x8007007E error while trying to use Microsoft Update on IE8. However, Windows update (the one built in windows) works but it only gives me updates for windows. Windows Update should take care of updating IE8, it is a change from the former way of doing updates. I have an 0x8007007E error while trying to use Microsoft Update on IE8.

P.S. - Sorry for the delay in responding, but it looks like the issue is solved for you.

Outlook "Unknown Error 0x8007007E"

I tend to thing this is more of a system/Office level problem, vice Outlook, because of the errors in Word/Excel. Recently did a XP pro install (instead of a plain upgrade), which didn't help. No help. I thought it was some Microsoft spyware that was unhappy about the new hardware, and ran the upgrade for XP to reregister.

Also, IE didn't work initially, but magically started to work OK. I can send mail with no problems. not sure which XP or Office reload did it... I checked for, and found, inetcomm.dll in the System32 folder.

I recently replaced the hard disk on my Dell PC using the disk copy utility which came with the hard disk. Everything seemed OK until I tried to run Microsoft Office 2003 applications. I downloaded a registry cleaner to see if that would help. I was unable to run the Office repair utility or even uninstall/reinstall the package.

I found and ran the scanpst.exe utility which found/fixed errors in my pst file, but did not fix the problem. Any new suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Other Office apps (Word, Excel) launch but give me a "Preparing to install" window when loading.

I downloaded and ran the Windows "install cleanup" utility and removed/re-installed Office 2003 to no avail. or the registry or who knows...

The main problem is Outlook which gives me the error "Unknown Error 0x8007007E" when trying to receive email. Maybe now, I shou...

Error message after start-up: Error loading C:/Windows/TEMP/msxm192z.dll

Even after successful removal and restart of my laptop using Malwarebytes, I STILL got the same error message and my photos are still inaccessible!!!!! This virus appears to be spreading to different apps in my laptop and I cannot seem to get rid of it through any anti-virus programs!

Some could be removed, but since that scan I've been getting the following message after starting-up the laptop:-

Also, since the initial scan and appearance of this error message I've been having various problems -

I cannot start my windows xp laptop, I have an error message that says: "lsass.exe - Application Error"

Any help is much appreciated. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). I have done some quick research and found that the problem is either the OS is broken, or a virus is pretending the OS is broken. Please post the make and model of this computer.

Click on ok to terminate the application

Once I click okay nothing happens, the screen just remains blank. If you need any further information let me know. Note as I have no laptop currently I will have to wait until I am in work to respond. Before I had the chance to remove it I found I was unable to start up my computer.

Instead of the usual user login screen I had a black screen with this message:

"lsass.exe - Application Error". I apologise for my ignorance. I hold the button down but the computer just loads up like normal and goes onto the dreaded black screen. Please note however I am pretty clueless when it comes to computers, thus please try to assume as little prior knowledge as is reasonably possible and include simple step by step instructions if you can.

Either way I have no idea what to do. I have tried going into safe mode (F8 key) but it doesn?t seem to work.

Error Message 0x80070005 critical error - windows will close in one minute

Please help!!!!

I followed the preparation guide and when I tried to run dds.scr, the black screen came up really fast and then disappeared and nothing ever came up. I run system restore to get it to stop, but that only works a few times, and then I get the error message again. When I tried to run RootRepeal.exe, I was able to tell it to scan, but then I never received a report. Do I have a bug?

This message comes up after I login and I can either access the Internet via Safe mode w/Networking, or do a System Restore, at which time the laptop works for about two or three times and then the error message comes back. I do not have the Brazilian financial Active X control that became corrupted, or if I do, I cannot find it.
I recently have been getting the Error message Windows has encountered a critical error and will close in one minute.

What do I do now??

When I tried to run it again, it said that I didn't have permission, and when I tried to delete it, it said the same thing! I am the administrator...I have Vista 32bit and I am getting the error code 0x80070005 windows has encountered a critical error and will now close. I have Vista 32-bit on an Acer Aspire laptop.

Windows 7 goes black or error message Driver kernel error 358.91

What can I do to solve this issues, I am at a loss and our local Microcenter Tech group says everything checks out.

This problem is been happening for some time now. I ran malware check and antivirus scans everything comes up clean.

I update the Geforce driver and also all the window updates. I have not used this computer for a while.

Error Message blue screen of death C000021a Fatal System Error Windows Logon Process

Now I have a new problem. I have no windows CD. The computer is a Dell, and it's running Windows XP service pack 2 with Explorer 6. Other than the F keys, I can't get anywhere with this computer.

Heeeeeelp!

I'm having a problem with my sister in law's computer. After receiving a recent download from microsoft, upon restarting, I get the blue screen of death with this message;

STOP: C000021a (Fatal System Error) The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)

I can't get anywhere into Windows, I've done F2, F8, F12, everything I could think of without risking more damage since I'm not trained for this.

I've booted from the system mechanic CD with the Hard Drive recovery, and while it said it found and fixed a problem, it didn't fix this one. Originally, she had that annoying XP 2008 virus/spyware, which I think I managed to get rid of with Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and System Mechanic 7.
