How To Fix Primary sata raid secondary ide not detected

TIP: You should click here to fix Windows errors and optimize system speed.

Primary sata raid secondary ide not detected is the name of the error that contains information about the error, including the reason why it occurred, which system component or application was malfunctioning that caused the error, and other information. The numerical code in the name of the error contains data that can be decoded by the manufacturer of the faulty component or application. An error using this code can occur in many different places in the system. Although the name contains some details, it is still difficult for the user to find and eliminate the cause of the error without specialized technical knowledge or the appropriate software.

From the Forums

A user in the forum details it further:

I kept my raid as primary boot and cd rom as secondary since the hard drive is empty, but recieve an error when booting about the hard drive not being detected properly but windows boots fine after bypassing the error. Is it even possible to run a sata raid as primary and ide as secondary?   you are still going to have to label the partition on the new hdd as active and format it so that window can assign it a drive letter.. I purchased a western digital 80 gb ide drive and connected it to the secondary ide slot on the motherboard since my cd roms are taking up the primary. I have my os installed on my sata raid which is made up of 2 40 gb raptor hard drives, i decided to add a larger ide drive for storage but it isnt recognized in windows.

I left the hard drive jumper on the master setting and plugged it into the master spot on the ide cable. Ive tried changing jumper settings to cable select and slave but neither changed anything. you should be good after that then reboot and check the bios setting and make sure that your options are set to combination boot for sata and ide so that it doesn't try to boot to the primary partition on an empty hadd with no os then go to the sata to boot..   Im running a asus a8v deluxe motherboard with 2 sata raid slots, 2 regular sata slots, and 2 ide slots.

When i get into windows the new drive doesnt appear anywhere except in device manager which states its functioning properly. a new window will appear on the left hand side find the option that says disk management then on the right side in the window find the drive that is new and chose to format it will ask you to assign a driver letter or manually assign one.. go to the my computer icon and right click it then left click manage..

SATA as Primary, and IDE as secondary

They should be on a floppy disk. how do i do that? The load needs to see the SATA drive, hence, if you're putting on a fresh load (I'm assuming XP), when you see the intro screen for the load, you need to push F6 to load the drivers that came with the drive (or that can be downloaded from their site).

everytime i boot the system, it wont load my SATA as primary system source. (i have windows installed on that hdd)

Are you doing a fresh load on the SATA or did you do a binary copy of your O/S from the IDE drive? If you did a copy from your IDE, then you would've needed to load the drivers on that drive FIRST before making the copy.

i have an ASUS P5GD1 motherboard

I already config my SATA hdd as fourth parimary, and IDE as secondary slave.

IDE primary w/ OS, trying to get SATA w/ OS as secondary storage device

It's from another computer I have whose motherboard fried, and there is data on it that I need to access for my business. The "Secondary Storage Device" slot in the BIOS doesn't show the SATA either. I went to the BIOS to disable SCSI as recommended by another user on another forum, but there isn't an option for that in my BIOS.

All help is appreciated. It has Windows XP installed as the OS. I'm trying to get this computer to read a SATA HDD (160GB). I want it to be a secondary storage device.

So I hooked it up to the secondary HDD cable, which is of course attached to the main IDE HDD (no other option I think). I booted Windows XP as usual from the main HDD, but the SATA drive isn't showing up in "My Computer," nor is it registering in the Device Manager. All I need is to get the data off of that SATA HDD and onto the HDD already in the computer.

It sounds like something is timing out.  It is hard to be sure without swapping either the drive or the MB.  You might go into the BIOS and select diagnostic mode for boot.  That would do a memory test and it might slow things down enough to mask the problem

Swapping Primary & Secondary SATA hard disks.

I have attempted to install my operating system onto this secondary hard drive, but many system files absolutely insist on being on the primary SATA drive. Go into your BIOS and change the boot device, choose your faster hard disk.
How would I go about getting the computer to recognise my secondary drive as being my primary?

Unfortunately, the company installed the slower of the two (Which I intended to use for storage) as the primary, complete with my operating system and all, leaving a faster but smaller hard drive as an odd choice for storage space.

H50-50 - controller sata/raid non detected in bios

in my lenovo H50-50 (windows10 64bit) i installed a new ams106x sata/raid PCI-Express controller and correctly configured as raid1 but i can not any way to make it detected by the bios in the boot device. Is there a way to make it detected by the bios and boot the system from the controller Raid? Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

I am not an owner of your model, but I have a suggestion.  Is there an option in the BIOS for Quick Boot or Fast Boot.   If so, try disabling if enabled.  The slower boot sequence might detect the card so that its BIOS can be loaded.

Can You Mix Non-raid And Raid Sata Disks On The Nforce 4 Sata Controller?

At the moment my system is set up with a bootable 3 disk SATA RAID 5 array via the SIL3114 ports. The only way to get the new hard disk onto the Hard disk boot list in the BIOS is to disable the BIOS IDE/SATA RAID setting completely. I have added the non-raid HD to the nforce4 sata ports and set the appropriate BIOS RAID setting for the single HD to disabled.

This has enabled me to migrate boot files etc onto the new disk. I cannot however get the system to boot from this new non-RAID hard disk as it does not appear under the BIOS Hard disk boot setting - instead it boots with the Sil31114 SATA RAID 5 array. If I do this however it will not allow me to add a further RAID1 array to the nVRAID controller. PLEASE HELP.

I am trying to:

FIRSTLY add a new SATA hard disk to the Nforce4 SATA ports as a non-raid drive which I want to make the system's BOOT disk and make the existing RAID 5 array non-bootable. SO IS WHAT I WANT TO DO POSSIBLE ? SECONDLY add 2 new SATA drives in a RAID1 array via the NFORCE4 chip.

I am running a Radeon 1900gt sapphire video card with 2 DVI's and 1 S-video wanna-be. can i run DVI AND S-video or do i have to run both DVI?? I have also gone into my radeon properties and have tried the same thing.

i get great picture from my tv. I am using the supplied adapter to run the wanna-be S-video to the real S-video to the back of my TV.

Router's Primary and Secondary DNS

If the primary is not available, the secondary would be.

The goal when it comes to networks & servers is to keep them up. I set the primary and secondary DNS as whatever specified from the OpenDNS website.
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

My questions are

1) Does people typically set their secondary DNS to some other provider such as the new Google Public DNS so that in case one service provider cannot resolve an address, the other service provider would.

2) Why we need a primary and secondary DNS?

I now switched to OpenDNS. Up until now, I have been using whatever my ISP is providing.

Quickie on Primary/Secondary DNS

i just don't see how the clients in charlotte know to look at the charlotte based secondary DNS zone. the common goal of all this material that i've been going through is to minimize traffic over the WAN. aren't the DNS server addresses given out by DHCP? in this case, DHCP is in boston and it would be configured to tell all DHCP clients to use boston-based DNS servers, even those in charlotte, would it not?

If the Charlotte clients are getting an address from DHCP, you'd set Option 006 (I think) on the Charlotte scopes so that those clients get the Charlotte DNS box as their primary DNS server and then the Boston server as their secondary.

I am working through 70-291 material and I came up with this question while going through the DNS area. Here is the scenario:

I have boston.company.local as one site and charlotte.company.local as another site. sites are connected via WAN.

names.charlotte.company.local is a secondary DNS server. dc1.boston.company.local is DC, primary DNS, DHCP. how do the clients in charlotte know to look at names.charlotte.company.local for DNS rather than looking at dc1.boston.company.local?

it is probably a really easy answer

You're on the right track.

Contacts Primary and Secondary

If I receive an e-mail from a new person and I want to add them to my Contacts by right-clicking on their address, then I end up adding that contact to the secondary list. Restart Outlook. Should I go into >mail settings > data files > add and remove all the contacts?

I need to start a new post.

I selected ?Contact?. I installed fresh Windows 7. This guide should help:
How to Transfer Contacts From Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007 | eHow.com

Something else which might help:
How Do I Get Outlook 2007 Contacts to Display Like Outlook 2003? | eHow.com

After adding the three Contact pst folders I moved Contact.pst (Primary List) up to the top.

I installed Outlook 2007. Let me know if there is a work around. I am losing control with the contacts. However, in the drop down list I see ?Contact1? and ?Contact? and another ?Contact? and Ruth.

I don?t know what to do. However, when I went to ?send to? in the drop down box ?Contact? wasn?t viewable. Now I had three backups. What I did in Outlook 2003 (on my old Xp machine) was to export to *.pst
1) Contact.pst 2) Contact1.pst 3) Ruth?s Contacts.psd.

I just need to get control on the Contact(s) and manage accordingly. I left from here:
http://www.sevenforums.com/microsoft-office/262823-primary-contact-address-unviewable.html#post2169221

Why? In Outlook 2003 everything was in harmony and working as expected. I then drilled down to mailing settings >datafiles > add. 2 primary 2 secondary ide channels

All seems to have gone okay...fresh install xp one 250 seagate sata II drive and one dvdrw benq 1640...My new board fresh arrival via RMA swap from asus(bye bye p5rd1-v) p5b-vm.The new board only has one ide connector so I have the dvdrw set as a master on it.The seagate 250 sata is in sata 1 position...Now I'm not sure if this is normal since its my first sata install , but i have 2 primary and 2 secondary ide controllers showing in device manager.I burnt my first coaster in a very long time using imgburn yesterday didn't know if there was any relation.

Well this is my first visit into the land of Sata...

im running a single SATA harddrive and a single dvd burner.

DNS Primary and Secondary Servers

Next the xbox asks for my Primary DNS Server Address and Secondary DNS Server address. I went run < cmd < ipconfig/all and got the following results:

DHCP Server .......: 131.236.1.5
DNS Servers ........: 131.236.1.2
............................ 131.236.1.11

Which is the primary and which is the secondary DNS Server, or how do i go about finding that information?

primary 131.236.1.2
secondary 131.236.1.11

or ask your ISP - they will tell you - it may even be on the website

I copied my IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway details into the xbox and they are being detected fine.

Win 8 on secondary HD won't boot without Win 7 on primary HD

I have two harddrive, primary hdd with win 7 installed and secondary with win 8.1 installed just recently. What can I do? So I tried to format win 8.1 and reinstall with win 8.1 chosen as default boot os but it is the same. I can't format my C drive where win 7 is installed either (format option grey out).

It gives me a black screen with blinking underscore. I am thinking of formatting my secondary hdd again, remove primary hdd, and reinstall win 8.1 from boot cd. I keep getting hdd failure message in win 8.1 and it asked me to backup and remove the hdd.

Will that work? However, when I removed primary hdd, I can't boot into win 8.1 anymore. I can't boot from cd either. I am worried I will get same black screen. 1: Do one drive at a time, in other words, cable only one drive.2: Make sure when you reinstall, you delete ALL partitions & format to NTFS.W7 - Click on > Drive options (advanced) Then highlight each partition & hit > Delete.http://www.blackviper.com/os-instal...http://www.blackviper.com/os-instal...W8 - The complete guide to a Windows 8 clean installationhttp://i.imgur.com/2FOd60C.gifhttp://i.imgur.com/pm8d5Xm.gifhttp://pcsupport.about.com/od/windo...http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/wi...Here are some examples of why you delete all partitions.http://forums.spybot.info/showthrea...http://forums.whatthetech.com/index...http://blog.eset.com/2011/10/18/tdl...3: Do W7 first"reinstall win 8.1 from boot cd"No idea what you have on the boot cd.windows 8.1 b...

I have yellow exclamation icons beside my primary and secondary IDE controllers in the device manager. rav.

Ive formatted my hard drives and re-installed windows a number of times now to try and fix this but have had no luck. Input/Output Range: 0170 - 0177

The [exists in all hardware profiles] box is ticked. For both IDE controllers, in the properties box, under the general tab, in the device usage box:

The [disable in this hardware profile] box is not ticked. Device Status on both of them reads;

This device is either not present, not working properly or does not have all the drivers installed. I tried updating the drivers to no avail.

I'll now post the properties info if it helps:
