A mistake or inaccuracy, an error is caused about by committing miscalculations on the things that you do. It is a state of having a wrong judgement or conception in your conduct that allows catastrophic things to happen. In machines, error is a way to measure the difference between the observed value or the computed value of an event against its real value.

It is a deviation from correctness and accuracy. When errors occur, machines crash, computers freeze and softwares stop working. Errors are mostly unintentional events to happen. Most of the time, errors are a result of poor management and preparation.

Unexpected conditions may happen to a computer and one way to inform the users of these conditions is through an error message. These messages appear when there are important warnings to relay or when a user need to perform an action.

However, there are different forms of error messages depending on the program and the operating system used. It can be presented in a detailed message, a part of the graphical user interface, dedicated lights or a brief code.

Some of the most common error messages are:

  • Device not ready

Registry leaks possible solution?

Why do you say it's not closing on shutdown? i did some research and came across
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache\PurgeAtNextLogOff"

Im not EXACTLY sure how this registry works, and what repercussions (if any) would happen by doing this. i created a string value with the SID in the event log (i.e S-1-5-21-XXXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXXX)
and now i get no registry leaks.

Nothing in what you posted shows that.

Occasionally i take the time to view my event logs and try to resolve errors. Does anyone know exactly what this registry does specifically? I came across a registry leak which viewed

(\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Windows Live\WLIDSVC.EXE) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-XXXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXXX-1001\Software\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\Disallowed

so i did some digging and tried to figure out why isnt the registry successfully closing itself on shutdown?

i believe it has something to do with offline files.

An error (possibly registry related)

The game mod in question runs on my other computer and this one is fine otherwise, everything works as it should. How can I troubleshoot the problem in question and fix it?

Thank you! You might take a look and see what versions of MS.NET are installed on the working system...and install same on the system with the hiccup.

I can play the game without problems on my i7, 6 GB RAM, Windows 7 x64 computer but when I run the mod in question I get this error:

I asked about it on the game mod's forums and it was suggested to me to run one of those "PC spead up/registry fixing" programs but I don't think that's a good idea.

Post the HiJackThis.log file here. Let it run the scan. Close ALL windows except Ad-Aware SE. In the ensuing window, Click the Immunize button (green cross) on top to Immunize your computer - you should do this each time there is an update.

Here's what you can do.... You're susceptible to infections that may otherwise be prevented on a properly updated system. However, some of the settings will need to be changed before your first scan. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.

After running the above programs, download HiJackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer.

Double click on the program to run it.

windows registry error messages

it tells me i have 55 errors everytime, but keeps telling me to go to all these different web sites to fix it, can anyone explain to me how to stop this evil message and its ding noise please

That is a spyware infection you have there... With no service packs (and probably no updates at all) your system is incredibly vulnerable. It should not even be connected to the internet (are you connected straight to your modem or are you behind a router?)

IE Error Messages & Registry deletions

Following advice to another user here on this site I downloaded TomCoyote's 'HiJack This' software earlier today. Can anyone help please? Sadly nothing seems to work, but you seem a really helpful crowd so I decided instead to register and post a new thread.

(2) The second problem is more serious and relates to an unwanted item on my registry - modesty forbids my telling you what it is - which is proving virtually impossible to remove. I'm new to computing, and have returned from the Christmas holiday only to find my idiot nephew (charged with keeping an eye on things) cheerily admitting to having used my machine to surf every disreputable nook and cranny of the internet while I was away.

Grateful for any and all contributions (keep it simple if you can; I'm a bit dim where technology's concerned)

I've spent the day searching this site for advice and have tried massaging my internet settings, checking and unchecking under Internet Settings-Tools-Advanced and such like. The line and letter numbers are given, along with a permission denied message, and a location of 'C:\Windows\Fonts\fonts.hta'.

Good Evening Everyone,

I wondered if someone would be kind enough to lend a hand? While most unwanted items have - I hope - been erased (courtesy of Evidence Elininator, Spybot SD, Ad-Aware 6 Pro, Spyware Guard and one or two other security measures installed when I bought the contraption a few ...

error messages windows dll & registry

The message refers to part of a file which is missing or possibly a file that has been left behind when some other software has been removed. This may be enough to cure the problem, if not you will have to provide a scan of services running on your computer with Hijackthis and post to the appropriate forum. Download CCleaner.

EVERYTIME I TURN ON MY PC I RECEIVE THESE ERROR MESSAGES

1/ "WINDOWS CANNOT FIND (followed by 5 square boxes), MAKE SURE YOU TYPED THE NAME CORRECTLY THEN TRY AGAIN"

3/ "WINDOWS CANNOT FIND (followed by 5 square boxes"
4/ "COULD NOT LOAD OR RUN ( followed by 5 square boxes)"

then after 60 seconds i receive another error message
"cannot find import; dll may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version file "rtl70 bpl" error 126"

i also have to download windows updates manually as when i go to system to turn them on that area is not highlighted so its impoosible for me to do so

Have you added or removed any software lately?

Hope that helps.

Firmware error messages and registry hype

I don't even know where to start. :cry

One other thing since upgrading the CPU chip last year to a Pent 2.4 I consistently get a 'Windows write fail' message. The the Windows Blue Screen of Death!confused
Message: The registry cannot load hive file, System Root/System32/configdefault or its log or alternate is corrupt absent or not writable. Router? Your computer make, system info.

This evening after work started all over. Service Pack 2? Checking Ide etc..........................................................(never happened before, usually boots fairly rapidly)

Error firmware is not ready. (Would be nice if I knew what firmware.

Printer? Today same thing locked up tighter n drum trying to load Sid Meier's Railroad
(Yup, I'm a game freak)

No more Firmware message but the IDE check lasted forever! Finally booted but took approx 10 minutes. What do these messages mean and how do I get my old system back.

Took approx 15 min to boot did a shut down re-start and it only took 3-4 minutes to restart, and once again all seems well with no obvious issues. All seemed well, if a little slow and couldn't find any readily apparent issue to resolve.

Where to begin? When I rebooted I got the following message.

rolleyes

Sunday the ole PC locked up so tight that the only way to get anywhere was to turn it off. Is any of this connected? Smiles,

How do I reactivate these kinds of features from the control panel?

Solution to delete problematic registry keys (error deleting registry key)

Find the file spupdsvc.exe and replace the extension from .exe to .old, after doing the this file should look as: C:\Windows\System32\spupdsvc.old
(if you cannot rename extensions, in a Windows Explorer Window, click Tools>Folder Options>View>Un check the hide known extensions)
(the renamed file of spupdsvc.old will automatically get freshly recreated upon reboot)

Step 5. Also tried regdelnull RegDelNull also tried RegASSASSIN: Malwarebytes

Nothing worked. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode (tap F8 at BIOS screen) then after it's loaded navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spupdsvc.exe

Step 4. Then run the reset.cmd within it, allow it to complete may take around an hour or so.

Step 3. Then reboot your computer into normal windows mode. I have tried everything previously, including all this permission stuff from over here: How do I remove a "Locked" Registry key? - Mischel Internet Security Forum just wasted a lot of time. Unfortunately they were locked so I couldn?t post a reply.

So guys, after reading from over here Malwarebytes Forum > RegAssassin didn't work ? NB: If you do not have below file of spupdsvc.exe then just do a normal restart and skip to step 5. Try these steps:

Step 1.

You then should be able to delete the offending registry keys via regassasin or even via regular regedit

Should work with XP, Vista, and 7

Hope that helps.

User Registry Leaks - Problem on User Accounts

The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

I am using Vista Home Premium 32-bit and I am having problem logging in using my user account. The User Profile Service failed the logon. An error flagged "The User Profile Service service failed the logon.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. User Account/Profile cannot be loaded."

The Event Viewer window has these details:

Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. I have all my shortcuts and archives there and "every customized thing".

The file will be unloaded now. User profile cannot be loaded.

DETAIL -
1 user registry handles leaked from \Registry\User\S-1-5-21-2363711691-2099609217-1737805787-1001_Classes:
Process 944 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2363711691-2099609217-1737805787-1001_CLASSES

I was able to logged in through Safe Mode but still an error flagged in status bar that the profile was not properly loaded. Although I was able to copy all data from that user account to a new account, can I still troubleshoot the problem and be able to log in using the old user account?

Vista Harddrive Registry Everything Problem

The path Program Files contains an invalid character''

I can't find a way to remove all these games that aren't even installed. If you did a clean install, there would be no Uninstall or Change program.
Your registered OS is XP, but your posting in the Windows 7 forum.

The path Program Files contains an invalid character''

? Try installing Crysis 2 and Call of Duty 4

? Installers give me the same error:

''Error 1324. How do you kill that which is already dead? Is this Windows 7/Vista or Windows XP.

Hey errbody

Here's the story:

? Harddrive dies

? Take it out

? Put in new harddrive

? All games and applications from dead harddrive are still on the 'Uninstall or change program' list, try uninstalling them but all give me error similar to this:

''Error 1324.

If you put a new HDD in, did you do a clean install of Windows, or did you clone your old drive back to the new drive.

Is there a way to scan a harddrive from another PC completely? (registry and all)

I have a USB adapter for SATA and IDE drives for my PC. I use it to scan harddrives from infected and really slow PCs. My problem is that scanning a drive by attaching it to my PC does not get all of the infection. I guess things like the registry and other system files are not scanned because they are not in use.

I don't have all day to install virus and malware scanners on the troubled PCs. Is there software that is made to scan harddrives this way?

There are several portable apps you can put on a flash drive that will scan the computer. Google for Clamwin

There may be others.

These should run just as if they are installed on the computer in question.
