How To Fix Updates failed, Error Code:8000FFFF

A mistake or inaccuracy, an error is caused about by committing miscalculations on the things that you do. It is a state of having a wrong judgement or conception in your conduct that allows catastrophic things to happen. In machines, error is a way to measure the difference between the observed value or the computed value of an event against its real value.

It is a deviation from correctness and accuracy. When errors occur, machines crash, computers freeze and softwares stop working. Errors are mostly unintentional events to happen. Most of the time, errors are a result of poor management and preparation.

Having a sign that tells us of issues that we need to solve in life for us to move forward is a great idea. While it does not always work in life, it does in computers. Messages that indicate the issues your computer encounters are called error codes. They appear whenever there is a problem such as incorrect data input or faulty hardware. Computer programmers add predefined error codes and messages in their system codes so whenever there is an issue, it prompts the users. While error codes may be predefined, there are different sets of error codes with different meanings for other kinds of computer programs.

A lot of users experience difficulties in installing Windows software updates. Most of the time, the update error message doesn’t tell you anything helpful to fix the issue. One the most common update error is “Windows could not search for new updates” plus an error code “80240442”. Updates are important as they deliver hotfixes, security patches and other improvements. Therefore, it is vital to install them when they are available.

Microsoft has streamlined the update process in the recent versions of Windows. However, this does not mean that update errors are totally out of the picture especially with issues relating to compatibility.

From the Forums

A user in the forum details it further:

Not sure what to do, I've tried the following. 1. Next thing I know I get bombarded with 30 or more pop-ups telling me things like; "The cordinal 282 could not be located in the dynamic link library iertutil.dll" among other similar messages. Most programs wont open anymore, chrome starts up but it wont connect anywhere. Manually uninstall all the updates that I installed today, I managed to delete all except two of them... 3.

EDIT: Added CBS.log!! http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/234159-windows-genuine-activation-issue-posting-instructions.html Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. To make it extra odd; the only reason I can type this message here is because Firefox still works perfect. Tried uninstalling those updates using CMD with wusa command, no success.

Scf /scannow - Found some corrupt DLL files, restarted and problem persists. 2. Several updates failed, I restarted computer as prompted. I should mention that I do not have System Restore or Backup activated... Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report.

The "cordinal 282" message shows up like shown in the attachment but several times with different programs. So I casually installed some updates with Windows Update. All I get is this error message; "Installer encountered an error: 0x8007371c". 4.

The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

What causes Updates failed, Error Code:8000FFFF

It is important to always run a system diagnostic scan when Windows Updates fail to download or install in order to pinpoint the root cause of the problem. Microsoft provides a troubleshooter for Windows Update related errors that will detect the problem and most likely can automatically fix it. However, there are always these type of errors that are hard to pin down.

Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot the problem and fix it.

  1. Clear up your Temporary Files and Internet Cache and reboot.
  2. Disable your Firewall and Anti-virus software.
  3. Use the Microsoft’s Windows Update Troubleshooter to reset Windows Updates settings to defaults.
  4. Flush the Software Distribution Folder.
  5. Reset the Catroot folder.
  6. Boot in Clean Boot State and run Windows Update again.

Error code 8000ffff w 10 updates pending

I get the 8000fff error when trying to apply. Please advise

Hope you can give me guidance. Been running fine, until these last 10 upgrades showed up.

I had installed win 10 and run for a few months before an update made a driver obsolete.

I think I've done everything requested. No current driver for win 10, so I had to revert to a Win 7 disc image I had from right before the migration. Running Win 7 pro 64

I am not convinced the CBS.zip attached.

Please can you help? For the past week I have been trying to install KB3205402 and KB3207752 but in each case it fails with the error code 8000FFFF

Errors found Code 8000FFFF Code 9C6

I have tried many of the suggestions I have read here - including 'Fixit' which tells me the problem is corrected - but I have not been able to fix this problem.

I cannot install IE 9 because I need to update windows 7 first and I get this message:
Some updates were not installed.

Failed 6 updates.

anybody have any ideas?

Save the file as Appevt.evtx
Repeat for the System log
then zip both, and upload them.

i have also used take ownership on the downloader file in programdata/microsoft/network
and was able to start bits service once i then re enabled windows update. Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save... it hung for awhile so i restarted and got the same error for bits, tried take ownership again, but still get the same error

Windows 7 Update failed error 8000ffff

But I ran the activation and it says it is genuine (I have had Windows 7 Professional for a couple of years). Any ideas? The same error is received for all of them, Error 8000ffff. I researched what the updates were for and it looks like they are for Windows 7 x64, I have Windows 7 x86.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker! The windows Malicious Tool update worked just fine. Also, just before this happened I started getting an error message that my windows was not genuine. Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/Hardware.aspx

Please reinstall KB971033 from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033 and then post an MGADiag report.

I have been trying to install the latest windows 7 updates for several days and all of them (14) keep failing. Uninstalling KB971033 just hides the problem, it does NOT solve it.

I did some googling and ran into several post that suggested uninstalling KB971033 (for the windows not genuine error), so I did that and the error message no longer shows.

Why do I get error code 8000ffff when trying to purchase an ad-in app?

See also this for more details:http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/m...1-973ae8c654cd If this doesn't work a hard reset might work. I check my purchasing options and both Visa and paypal seem to be correct. Two things you could try is to manually reset your clock and to manually sync your account.

Apparently this error is related to a problem with syncing your account.

Windows 7 Update Error Code 8000FFFF

My usual disclaimer: I'm not an expert at anything. It solved my problems. System Restore

Hopefully others will jump in with additional suggestions.

See this previous Forum thread:

Windows 7 update (KB3022345) causing corrupt files

I uninstalled and hid the offending update and ran the Microsoft Fixit tool. CBS.zip
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bieyidgcq9vgdga/CBS.zip?dl=0
[MediaFire download isn't working properly at the moment, so I have dropbox up]

My internet is slower than most so I only included the log files in the download, if there was something else specific or you need to look at all the files (152Mb zip) I can upload those. I poked around and found out that a Windows Update from May 7 (KB3022345) was causing issues for a lot of people. However, I recently began having problems with updates very similar to yours.

I've been having issues trying to update windows recently, so I've come requesting assistance. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit. You could try restoring your computer to that earlier time. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058

Another possibility that might help is if you have a System Restore Point from before the issues began.

The Error:
Code 8000FFFF

I've run SURT and SFC Scan, and the SFC scan detected corruption that it could not fix.

Failed updates error code 80070490

Insert the Installation DVD. Reboot the machine > Run the automatic repair.

3. Open up an elevated administrator Command prompt. Run this command:
sfc /scannow
Let us know the results.

2.

The last thing i did was to rename the file for updates. I have been in touch with microsoft and followed all their instructns this is where i am at. As I don't know what instructions you were given by them;

1.

This did not work but has wiped clean all my update history and since then i am not recieving any updates at all, previously i was getting some but not the security updates. Boot the machien into Safemode with Networking, see what the updates says.
