A mistake or inaccuracy, an error is caused about by committing miscalculations on the things that you do. It is a state of having a wrong judgement or conception in your conduct that allows catastrophic things to happen. In machines, error is a way to measure the difference between the observed value or the computed value of an event against its real value.

It is a deviation from correctness and accuracy. When errors occur, machines crash, computers freeze and softwares stop working. Errors are mostly unintentional events to happen. Most of the time, errors are a result of poor management and preparation.

Windows 8.1 upgrade error 0xC1900101-0x40017

The only change I have made to it is to install and additional 4GB of compatible memory shortly after i purchased it. I have also installed all your applicable Windows 8.1 drivers.

When I attempt to upgrage it to windows 8.1 using the windows store it fails on the first boot after installing the update with  the  error 0xC1900101-0x40017 and restores Windows 8.

I have done all the troubleshooting I can think of, including disabling all drivers not needed and all startup programs.

I have attemped the upgrade at least 15 times, including downloading the update a second time.

Can you please help me to complete this upgrade.

I you require any further information please contact me.

Frank,

Based on the compatibility list on our support site here, Lenovo is not supporting X220 on Windows 8.1
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?DocID=HT079684

If you plug that error code into the microsoft support site, there are a lot of hits on their forums. Last year It was upgraded to windows 8 pro and I have installed all updates using your system upgrade 5 program and have installed all windows important and optional updates.

Here is the search page I used and I just plugged in your error code ...

The funny thing is that a few weeks ago I already updated to windows 8.1 but because of a faulty driver and not being able to boot into safe mode I had to renew my windows and downgrade to windows 8.0.

I can't seem to update to windows 8.1 it gives me this error after logging in again:

Sorry, we couldn't complete the update to Windows 8.1. I found a toshiba page with a tutorial to how to update to 8.1 and it told me to uninstall the following:

I have a samsung RV511, i5 processor, 4gb Ram it has windows 7 home premium.

When i restart the laptop i get the message that the installation failed in the safe_os phase with an error during BOOT operation. It starts by copying the files and then on the first restart it gets stuck at the windows logo everytime. I need your help to successfully upgrade to windows 10 home.

Win 10 Upgrade Failed Error 0xC1900101 Safe_OS During Boot

I received the error shown as the installation started, the first reboot after downloading the files and updates. I think there is an answer on another thread, something about disabling safe boot ????

Windows 10 upgrade error 0xc1900101-0x30018 is back.

At this point I am still looking at staying with Win 8.1 on my main computer, and using the free on my old Dell with the OEM upgraded to the free copy of win 10.

This method I haven't tried
Install Clean windows 7
Install Chipset drivers
Then install Ethernet drive
Then install windows 10. If you can't use it, you can't upgrade. Then install all your software

I haven't tested this build in a virtual machine either.

Is windows 10 required to be installed on the 1st partition, this could be issue as well because some Oem use the 1st primary partitions.

Don't know what program/driver/windows update is causing it. See, Microsoft wants you to upgrade to the free version. Looks more like I will be sticking with the windows 7.

You would figure Microsoft would know what they are doing, but I am not so sure. There is one other method I haven't tried. There is still time for MS to fix whatever problems you seem to have been able to identify.

Hmmmmm!. . .I wouldn't jump to conclusions as of yet there Groze. This could be an issue for upgrading.

1703 to 1709 Upgrade - 0xc1900101 0x30018 error, have tried everything

Need sleep!

This goes back to my belief that the upgrade screwed up AND I didn't properly roll back? I have a Samsung Odyssey I am trying to attach to the system which is why I am even bothering with all of this and it won't work without 1709 properly installed and up to date :/

I have attached both files from the panther folder for help. The rollback directory error file only has one line, and it's "IBSLIB OSRollbackService::CBootFilesRestoreCheckpoint::Rollback: Failed to create WinPE rollback directory: H:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Rollback\WinPE[gle=0x000000b7]" Which is odd since I have no H:\ drive currently attached to my system.

It gives me the cannot configure for my hardware error and then gives me the hex codes whenever I try to update manually via USB or ISO. I am starting to think there was an issue I missed during the first time the upgrade failed but I am not sure. If I missed some critical info my apologies but i've been up all night working on this and am at the end of my rope.

This system is more or less brand new and I will list my specs at the end. Please help and thank you in advance! The error I am getting is in the title, and appears like for many others at 42% on the upgrade process.

I really hate to post for help anywhere, but this one has me stumped.

XPS 13 (9333) - Unable to upgrade to Windows 10 - Error 0xC1900101 0x30018

I am subscribed to MSDN so i downloaded the Win 10 installer with a new registration key.
Please help,
I have a a XPS 13, 9333 originally delivered with Ubuntu but I need to run Windows 10on it. SYSPREP at startup. Trying to install Win 10 booting from USB stops midway (black screen for hours).

Any idea anybody? Windows 7 installation from which I start is a clean one, no AV, no apps, nohing. I was able to install windows 7.

So far, and after many attempts, I've been totally unable to install Windows 10. Then I tried to upgrade to Win 10 running setup from it.
1st phase (file copying) OK.
2nd phase (driver installation) halts at 25% (40% total) and reboots recovering windows 7 and showing Error 0xC1900101 0x30018 t failed in operation "FIRST_BOOT", ... There is a driver install order that must be followed.Drivers Install Order and Tutorialshttp://dell.to/2guAvnE

XPS 13 (9343) - Unable to upgrade to Windows 10 - Error 0xC1900101 0x30018

Nothing else has been done to the laptop - no dodgy software or USB devices (other than the boot USB where necessary). What on earth can it be doing??
- I also tried creating a bootable USB through the media creation tool. So far, and after many attempts, I've been totally unable to upgrade to Windows 10.

When attempting the upgrade (i.e. I have never experienced such a load of nonsense trying to install any other piece of software. Just getting to this error message costs me 36 hours of waiting (welcome to the future!), so it would really help if someone could give a definite answer on what causes it... I am still within the 14 day cooling off period, and I'm now seriously considering returning it.

The very first thing I did was install all available Windows updates for 8.1 (there were 79 of them), and immediately after that I began the Win10 install saga. If I boot from this USB drive and perform a "clean" install, this works perfectly - it takes about 8 minutes in total (which emphasises how ridiculous the 36 hours is). I paid for the laptop on the understanding it would get a FREE upgrade to Win10!
- I have also tried using the USB (but not booting from it) to perform the in-place upgrade - this hits the same error as Windows Update does (and takes just as long)
- I have tried uninstalling all antivirus software and disabling all wireless/bluetooth devices before attempting the upgrade - none of this helps. not clean installation), I hi...

No other changes done. This error message appears because of some not compatible drivers and tools which are already preinstalled on Windows 8 system. Hmmm...if I do so I cannot access Windows App-Store to rerun the upgrade because i have no network-connection. Windows 10 Upgrade Fails----Error 0xC1900101 - 0x40017 -----Logfiles\Srt\StrTrail.txt?

Log file F:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrTrail.txt"
I cllicked on Advanced options and tried to repair it several times using startup repair but with no success. So i downloaded the iso file, extracted the files within it and ran the Setup. My Windows 7 is in the C drive.

Waiting for your reply All went okay and the upgradation process was at 50% when suddenly my PC restarted and it went into that Blue Screen of Startup Repair where it showed
"Startup Repair couldnt repair your PC. Press "Advanced Options" to try other options to repair your PC or "Shut down"to turn off your PC. As a result, I had to reinstall Windows 7 and decided to upgrade to Windows 10 again.

Well...I was an insider and was using the Windows 10 Insider builds when one day my hard drive crashed. I finally decided to revert back to Windows 7, and so when Win7 loaded again, there was again a blue window saying
" We couldnt install Windows 10
0xC1900101 - 0x40017
The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation."
I tried it 2 times and both the times the same thing happened and secondly i dont know why is it saying "Log file F:\WINDOWS......"
i dont have any F drive.

Install error 0x8007045d -0x2000c

Will post more info as we going through this! We just run a CheckDisk and a quick memory test. He run the Windows Update under Window 8.1 to pick up the latest fixes then start the Windows 10 upgrade using USB drive with the Windows 10 Upgrade Image.

We will debug this and post more info later after work!

During the Windows 10 installation on or around 14% over all progress while copying files, he went to slept and let the upgrade continue. Well, it went through about 32% in installation but a quick message about installation failure and recovered back to Windows 8.1. He decided to upgrade to Windows 10.

From my past experience, 0x8007045D is normally an I/O operation failure. The first thing he noticed in the morning was,

"We couldn't install Windows 10 we've set your PC back to the way it was right before you start installing Windows 10
0x8007045D- 0x2000C
The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during APPLY_iMAGE operation."

So he is back to Windows 8.1. Of course, no problem detected.

Neighbor had his HP 15 laptop fixed and returned with a new re-imaged 8.1.

The problem was with a cracked LCD screen and was under warranty. Need to go to work now. I just observed that it is at the over all progress of 15% and copying files 52%. This
is a AMD A8 with 4 GB memory and 750 GB hard drive.

Error 0x8007000E-0x2000C while updating to Windows 10.

A friend of mine is trying to upgrade his PC using ISO but he keeps getting an error that keeps restoring his PC back to Win8.1. His words "it finishes the install, gets to the copying files stage., then after a while it starts restoring my windows 8.1 back." The error code on the screenshot is 0x8007000E-0x2000C with the message "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during APPLY_IMAGE operation."
Please can anybody help out with this. 1) how much free space does he have available as it sounds like he is trying to do an in place upgrade.
2) does your friend have a sd card inserted in the machine that is being upgraded to 10?

0xC1900101 Error during upgrade to Windows 10 Home from Windows 7

No other software is installed apart from the basic windows. After reading several threads, I updated the BIOS (Intel P6200 CPU) and the VGA driver to latest, disabled and updated many other drivers.

I am trying to upgrade from Windows 7 Home Basic SP1 to Windows 10 Home , after first stage of setup when it restarts, I get an error SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and then after a restart I get the message "0xC1900101 - 0x20017 The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation" I have done a fresh install of Win7 today and activated it successfully.

Where could I be going wrong. I would try this method:

Whatever I do the same cycle repeats.

Windows 10 Repair Install Error 0x80070570 - 0x2000C

Have tried many times and keeping getting this error. I have run sfc /scannow, and Dism, both report no errors. So, I want to do a repair install. It appears on the first reboot, about 2% into the install.

The install is onto a SSD, which was migrated (a few months ago), using Paragon Hard Disk Manager. Both report the same error. I have searched here, and tried the install using English and English International ISOs (extracted).

Error code 0x8007000E-0x2000C When Updating To Windows 10

His words "it finishes the install, gets to the copying files stage., then after a while it starts restoring my windows 8.1 back." He sent me a screenshot of the error but for reasons I don't know, Tapa Talk isn't allowing me to send the image. Can anyone help out with this please? A friend of mine is trying to upgrade his PC using ISO but he keeps getting an error that keeps restoring his PC back to Win8.1.

The error code on the screenshot is 0x8007000E-0x2000C with the message "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during APPLY_IMAGE operation."

Also tried to sync licenses in the store preferences. I tried the wsreset.exe, tried re-download and installation and also am logged into my microsoft account.

Clicked it, downloaded it, installed it - but then during that it jumps from approx. 5% to sth. Thank's in advance for any kind of help. higher, maybe 74%, I could only see that for a half second maybe, and then the old windows version gets installed. i recently bought the Acer V3- 772G and after installing the heck out of the windows updates I could finally see the 8.1 update in the store.

Nothing works. Error code is 0x8007025D - 0x2000C and I run a german version if that matters...

Windows 10 Upgrade Failure - 0xC1900101 - 0x30018

I've tried using the tool both by running it on my PC and putting it on a USB. When I originally looked this error up I read that it might be an encryption error so I decrypted both of my drives, ran the install again..

Hey guys,

I've been having a problem with upgrading to Windows 10. So now I am at a complete loss as to what to do so I can get myself upgraded.

Same error. It gives no warning of this error until it has been through most of the install, I have tried multiple times same issue occurs.

System:

Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Mobo: ASUS ROG Maximus VII Hero
PCU: Intel i7 4790k 4.00 GHz
GPU: ASUS ROG MARS760x2 (2 GTX 760 chips on one card)
RAM: 16GB DDR3

Please let me know if you have any info or advice as to how I can fix or workaround this issue. It gets through the first part of copying files and does the first reboot, then it starts back to the screen and the Installing Features and Drivers sits at 0% for a few seconds then resets and restores my old version with this error:

0xC1900101 - 0x30018 - The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with the error during SYSPREP operation.
