From the Forums
A user in the forum details it further:
In practice most of the time you can get away with running different sizes/brands. I'd consider just running your 6GB of matched sticks, and then if you think you'd really benefit from that extra 2 gigs then try that later. I'm thinking about building my own PC and i'm really a newb in this area. So my question is can i buy like 3 of the same chips that add up to 6gb and then like 1 chip that's 2gb and run them together?

T61 upgrading to 4GB, need advise in 2 memory sets.
I had read that in order to make it worthwhile, no all latency will work. The #2 link, I picked the link from this site:http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T61-and-prior-T-series-ThinkPad/Compatible-Memory-with-T61p/m-p/27153 but unfortunately is out of stock, so I searched and found #1. please advise me if they are the same.

2 sets of identical RAM seem to not work together?
It's all really confusing and none of the DIMMs give errors in Memtest86+
Any help would be really appreciated. We recommend a minimum of 7 passes, which is usually an overnight job of several hours. RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Upload your BSOD dmp files here, and we'll take a look:
So I've had 8GB (2x 4GB) of G.Skill Ripjaws RAM in my system for about a year now and I got another 8GB of the exact same RAM in December and ever since then I've been getting BSOD's every couple of hours with all 4 DIMMs installed - However if I use just use either the 2 old sticks or the 2 new sticks it runs fine, I don't think it's a compatability issue as all the memory is identical (Naming - Sticker information - AMD overdrive gives the same name), I'm sort of leaning towards an issue with the motherboard maybe?

Two sets of recovery discs have now failed to work :(
Had a new one installed. Purchased recovery media from Lenovo for over $50. Booted from first disc. Solved! What can I do?
Wiped all data and began Windows 7 restoration. Followed instructions, switching discs many times. Eventually was asked to insert "Applications and Drivers Recovery Disc" number 2. I tried every disc in the 4-disc set just to be sure. Ordered a new set of recovery discs from Lenovo. Sat through same hour-long recovery process. Exactly the same thing happened. I am at a loss. Insert the correct one." I tried repeatedly.
Check out that settings in the BIOS Setup.
HiI don't know whether it relates to this error, but Lenovo win7 recovery image needs Legacy boot mode. Go to Solution.

Windows stripe sets and volume sets
Likewise if I install XP/2000 on a box containing such a pair, will the OS detect the volume/stripe correctly during install?
Could we have a little bit more information on what you are doing? If I unplug the drives as a pair and put them in another XP/2000 box, will the OS automatically recognise them as the stripe or volume set pair? And is it Windows XP or Windows 2000 there is no Windows XP/2000?
Try this article it may help answer a question or two.
4809 » How to choose between a Stripe Set, a Volume Set, a Stripe Set with Parity, and a Mirror Set while using Windows NT 4.0? 07-Feb-02

User sets file association and now system restore does not work
After that all the word document shortcuts they created on the desktop changed to a shortcut with IE's 'e' symbol - clicking them flashes up a screen that instantly goes away (ie I assume) and ie's download file dialog then opens. It will restore the default associations for LNK files (shortcuts). Then they copied some more .doc files and they could not open them, so (they claim) they choose word as the default file association (which is fine, except it should not have prompted for that in the first place). Default File Type Associations - Restore
Hope this helps,
So short of doing a full system restore, and also short of manually copying the registry files from the last restore point (which I'm not sure is even possible on a windows 7 drive) what can I do to resolve this mess? Further, an attempt to open ie acts the same way. Worse, running system restore does the same thing - flash, then ie files downloaded dialog - asking if I want to open one of the files listed (which are the .lnk files to the word documents on the desktop).
I need some help trying to figure out which pc133 memory will work and wont work
my current internet computer (pIII 500) is limited to 384mb of memory so I'm thinking about buying 3 sticks of pc133 256 memory for this micron (it has 2 sticks of 64 mb for only a total of 128). I put in an old video card, cleaned up the windows os and the computer ticks like a new watch. and buy only from a reputable company. Buying from an individual is not a good idea for computer components at ebay.
Anything on this page would work actually. the micron website and several other memory websites say that this computer will use pc133, cl-3, unbuffered, non-parity, 168 pin, 3.3 volt sdram dimm.http://www.crucial.com/store/MPartspecs.Asp?mtbpoid=3A9D9256A5CA7304&WSMD=Millennia+MAX+GS+800&WSPN=CT178220 since pc133 is so expensive new, I want to try and find some used memory, but comparing all the pc133 (on ebay for instance) and trying to figure out which will work is ridiculous. And the prices are not too bad.
I purchased a computer at a garage sale a couple of weeks a ago for a couple of bucks.
the older couple said it was dead, but I liked the case and was planning on moving my internet computer into that case. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...2307856+1052507867&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=147
Buying ram off ebay is not usually a good idea, if you do make sure you have a very liberal return policy wth it. according to the micron website, the motherboard is a tazer 2, tyran s1854 http://support.mpccorp.com/app...
Two different sets of RAM
I also have two Samsung 512MB DDR2 memory sticks lying around. Would be an easy extra GB for my pc. Anyone here knows if this is possible?
I remember reading somewhere something about my motherboard being able to run two sets of different ram at the same time, but i cant find anything on it. And i have also an overclocked cpu, can this affect anything? I have an Asus P5Q Deluxe Motherboard with two Crucial DDR2 PC6400 4GB KIT in it.
Box sets in MB
Figured it out, found a tutorial at MB forum.
Can someone point me in the right direction with this? On page 6 or 7 of the Media Browser post [Demonseed] there is a box set for Indiana Jones, I would like to do something like that.
There are 7 discs in this set.
I have Band of Brothers and would like to set up a box set in Media Browser.
2 Sets Of Speakers
It may or may not, as there's nothing to seperate the sound to each individual speakers, as there's still only 2 lines going to 4 speakers so the computer recognizes 2 speakers. I've seen this happen more than once, where the power cords interfere with the sound coming out of the speakers. You never know, it might work! Give it a whirl! Good luck with it, I hope it works for you!
I know there really not meant to work this way, but I think it would be cool, and also my other speakers don't make a fuzzy sound when I adjust the volume anymore.
In a 4.1 or higher surround sound, the signal is broken up at either the sound card (or onboard audio) or at the subwoofer which delivers the "surround sound". Is there any way to fix this so its louder. Try relocating the speakers, making sure that the speaker wires aren't next to any power cords.
Well I did but it turns out the speaker's plugged into the back turn out to be really quiet even turning them up all the way.
I was testing out to see if it was my speakers or my computer that make a fuzzy sound when I adjust the sound, and I had an idea I have two speaker female ends on my computer why not plug these other speakers in the other plug too to make a surround type feeling. I've also seen a friends computer speakers pick up his cordless phone
You can try adjusting the settings in the audio properties and making it 4 speak...

HDD Chip Sets
I would appreciate any observations on this matter. I've never come across any statement like his before. So if you let the cartridge run out of ink you can't use it anymore.
Here's a tip, for best results.
I was unable to source these cartridges recently and bought a different brand of compatibles. The cartridges have not given me any problem at all.
I have been using a brand of compatable ink cartridges in my Epson R200 printer for a couple of years. Today I replaced the old "Brand X" black, with a new "Brand Y" black.
Because they are chipped. You will have to replace all the other "Brand X" cartridges so you have a full set of "Brand Y" cartridges in the printer, even though it means wasting the unused ink in the existing cartridges".I have never heard of this before, and I am a little suspicious of this comment, as I did not have to do this when I was obliged to change brands previously. Full instructions are included, this pack was £2.99. I was a late starter, because I was told it was messy.
You have to start filling before the cartridges run out of ink. It's the cheapest way to do it. But if you have more than 2 brain cells to rub together you shouldn't have to much trouble getting the hang of it.
Like you my reaction would be to think it is some sort of scam to get you to purchase more of their cartridges. I have a pack here, that I bought sometime ago, it contains four colours, each of 30ml and a syringe. Go elsewhere. Why don't y...

What are the system specs? blue black blue blackXXXX KING XXXX KINGwill this work?
please email me naruto [email protected] Depends on how much ram your motherboard supports.
Needing help with two sets of RAM
Beyond that no guarantee can be given as its dependent on many factors; motherboard support, the processor(modern CPU's have the memory controller built into them), your BIOS and BIOS settings, etc. Ideally all memory should be the same but in reality most people mix RAM without issues. Question, do you have a 64 bit operating system that can actually handle 4GB or more of RAM and do you really need 12GB of RAM?
one maxtor, one wd, what pin sets?

My daughters computer went belly up. it is going to be possible to use the two drives, right?

NT Backup Sets
I may have done that incorrectly. Can I view the already backedup file? However the backup sets are configured autmatically run - I guess from a bat file. I'm obviously not a network guru -and am just trying to review what is already going on...any help?
Using NT Server - Backup
There are several backup sets already setup (daily, weekly and monthly) and I want to review the drive, folders and files configured to backup, also the type of backup and other backup options. I think I tried to get from "catalogue" but didn't get details I expected.
When she followed these steps on her computer, she somehow found out that she has 90 control sets in her registry (controlset001, controlset002, etc.
A friend of mine has an e-machines with Vista on it. all the way up to 90).
I would think that has something to do with it. This article is for WindowsNT - but it will hold true (in most part) for Vista: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/100010There may be several control sets depending on how often you change system settings or have problems with the settings you choose. So, it appears that something is making a lot of changes to the system settings - or there are a lot of problems with the system settings. The first thing to check would be to see if there's an infection. Jessie
There is something drastically wrong here. She Googled his problem, and ended up on HP's website (his computer is an HP Pavilion).
Follow the directions at the bottom of the post in the link above if you think that it may be infected.
Here's a link to a post that has a number of free, online scanners: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/blogs/usas...?showentry=1252 If the system is infected the tests may not run - or may quit unexpectedly. Could someone please help?!? Her grandfather was asking her to help him with his computer.
I'd suggest running System Restore and restoring the computer back a ways - to see if it eliminates these controlsets. Her gran...
