How To Fix Windows 7 failed updates error code 800B0003

TIP: You should click here to fix Windows errors and optimize system speed.

A mistake or inaccuracy, an error is caused about by committing miscalculations on the things that you do. It is a state of having a wrong judgement or conception in your conduct that allows catastrophic things to happen. In machines, error is a way to measure the difference between the observed value or the computed value of an event against its real value.

It is a deviation from correctness and accuracy. When errors occur, machines crash, computers freeze and softwares stop working. Errors are mostly unintentional events to happen. Most of the time, errors are a result of poor management and preparation.

Seeing an error when you work on your computer is not an instant cause of panic. It is not unusual for a computer to encounter problems but it is also not a reason to let it be and not to investigate on the errors. Windows errors are issues that can be fixed through solutions depending on what may have caused them in the first place. Some may only need a quick fix of re-installation of the system while others may require in-depth technical assistance. It is crucial to react to the signals on your screen and investigate the problem before trying to fix it.

Having a sign that tells us of issues that we need to solve in life for us to move forward is a great idea. While it does not always work in life, it does in computers. Messages that indicate the issues your computer encounters are called error codes. They appear whenever there is a problem such as incorrect data input or faulty hardware. Computer programmers add predefined error codes and messages in their system codes so whenever there is an issue, it prompts the users. While error codes may be predefined, there are different sets of error codes with different meanings for other kinds of computer programs.

A lot of users experience difficulties in installing Windows software updates. Most of the time, the update error message doesn’t tell you anything helpful to fix the issue. One the most common update error is “Windows could not search for new updates” plus an error code “80240442”. Updates are important as they deliver hotfixes, security patches and other improvements. Therefore, it is vital to install them when they are available.

Microsoft has streamlined the update process in the recent versions of Windows. However, this does not mean that update errors are totally out of the picture especially with issues relating to compatibility.

Windows 7 is the operating system released by Microsoft, following the Windows Vista. However, despite its later technology, there are still errors encountered in Windows 7. Sometimes, problems occur even during an installation or an upgrade. A common example is when you upgrade your Windows Vista to Windows 7 and after more than 50%, it will fail or hang. Other Windows 7 errors are caused when you incorrectly install or uninstall a program. When there are errors in your Window 7, a pop up error message will appear once you start your computer. Windows 7 error that are not fixed will make it annoying to perform other task including hardware functions.

A user in the forum details it further:

Several failed Windows 7x64 updates (see attachements) error code 800B0003 Attachment 352135 Ran SURT Ran sfc/scannow in elevated prompt. It found errors that it could not fix. I need tha CheckSUR.log file as well please...

Note: I could not upload the entire CBS folder as a rar or a zip,( I kept getting a 505 error) so I uploaded the cbs log file. and the c:\windows\windowsupdate.log file

What causes Windows 7 failed updates error code 800B0003

Whenever you see windows error on your screen, the easiest and safest way to fix it is to reboot your computer. Just like our bodies needing a shut eye for several minutes, our computers also need to shut down once in awhile. A quick reboot can refresh your programs and gives your computer a clean slate to start a new venture. More often than not, it also eliminates the errors you have encountered after rebooting. It is also ideal to shut down your computer once a week to completely put all unused programs to rest. However, when a reboot does not work anymore, use more advanced Windows solutions to fix your errors.

It is important to always run a system diagnostic scan when Windows Updates fail to download or install in order to pinpoint the root cause of the problem. Microsoft provides a troubleshooter for Windows Update related errors that will detect the problem and most likely can automatically fix it. However, there are always these type of errors that are hard to pin down.

Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot the problem and fix it.

  1. Clear up your Temporary Files and Internet Cache and reboot.
  2. Disable your Firewall and Anti-virus software.
  3. Use the Microsoft’s Windows Update Troubleshooter to reset Windows Updates settings to defaults.
  4. Flush the Software Distribution Folder.
  5. Reset the Catroot folder.
  6. Boot in Clean Boot State and run Windows Update again.

One of the first step to fix Windows 7 errors is to check all your drivers in the Device Manager and make sure that these drivers are updated. You can also run the Program Compatibility Wizard. It is a built-in troubleshooter that will help users fix errors in Windows 7. Check the Wizard under the Start menu. For legacy software, you can check the Compatibility tab of the program to edit the settings.

Other fixes in Windows 7 error include:

  1. Running a Clean Boot Using Microsoft Guided Help
  2. Manually Running a Windows Update
  3. Conduct a Microsoft Hotfix
  4. Download and Install Microsoft’s automated patch

windows update error code 800706F7 54 important updates failed

I have retried 3 times all to the same result. i have searched for this error code and the only results i found was about removing a previous 2014 update but this was not on my computer. i have ran the System Update Readiness Tool which installed 1 update however i can still not download the other updates

Tried again and am now also getting error codes 80246007 and 8007002

Updates failed, Error Code:8000FFFF

Not sure what to do, I've tried the following.
1. Next thing I know I get bombarded with 30 or more pop-ups telling me things like; "The cordinal 282 could not be located in the dynamic link library iertutil.dll" among other similar messages. Most programs wont open anymore, chrome starts up but it wont connect anywhere. Manually uninstall all the updates that I installed today, I managed to delete all except two of them...

3.

EDIT: Added CBS.log!! http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/234159-windows-genuine-activation-issue-posting-instructions.html

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. To make it extra odd; the only reason I can type this message here is because Firefox still works perfect. Tried uninstalling those updates using CMD with wusa command, no success.

Scf /scannow - Found some corrupt DLL files, restarted and problem persists.

2. Several updates failed, I restarted computer as prompted. I should mention that I do not have System Restore or Backup activated... Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report.

The "cordinal 282" message shows up like shown in the attachment but several times with different programs.

So I casually installed some updates with Windows Update. All I get is this error message; "Installer encountered an error: 0x8007371c".

4.

The data is still ...

Failed to install updates: Error Code 80070308

Any suggestions? I have spent this afternoon reading the other posts and following the Windows Update Posting Instructions thread so hopefully I've gathered has much info as I can. Attachment 325390

And I received the following error code.

I hope I have not missed anything out. Any help/advice would be appreciated. This resulted in the successful installation of: Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) but the failed installation of the other 9 updates as before.

Good Afternoon,

I am also having problems installing updates with the error code 80070308.

I downloaded and ran the System Update Readiness Tool. But please bear with me if I have. Attachment 325391

I then carried out the sfc/scannow which all came back OK. Kerry

This is becoming a common problem with the latest batch of updates - MS are looking into it (we are led to understand)
I'll add this thread to the action-list for our contact.

Once the installation was complete I tried to reinstall the updates. Attachment 325392

I have saved the logs as a zip file but its too big for me to upload (12.5MB)?

Multiple .NETFX Updates Failed: Error Code 643

I love my computer, almost to a crazy level, but I'm almost to a point of unplugging it and walking away. I waited a few more days for that one. I didn't then, nor do I now have the time to do that. I'll also start by saying this isn't my first attempt at resolving this.

The final attempt being to uninstall ALL of .NETFX and manually re-install each one individually. The other option I heard was an overlay install. The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply

I thought about upgrading to windows 8 (which I'd rather not do) in hopes it would resolve it, but I'm really not an 8 fan.

So lets recap there. Code:

Failed to install 9 updates: Error Code 80070308

Here are some instructions to make life easier

1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy.

The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... Because most of the updates are important; so i'd like them to be installed and they keep on failing every day since then. I just took a look at some other topics in this forum section and it seems I am not the only one having these problems. Is this problem common?

I've tried the hotfix, didn't work out; i've tried multiple CMD commands, didn't work out; i've tried to rename the catroot2 folder, didn't work out either... I've already tried several things i've found on the internet, but nothing really nothing worked out for me. click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

Microsoft updates failed error code 0x80070005

Having read another post I am pretty sure I am infected but the post was closed so, I apologize, I don't know how to fix the problem. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78A6528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

When I boot up Normal I get the following error c:\DOCUME~1\LWP\LOCALS~1\Temp\7729484.exe Windows cannot find 'c:\DOCUME~1\LWP\LOCALS~1\Temp\7729484.exe' Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click Search.

Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. No one is ignored here.If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. Each one cleaned up some files but I still can't do windows updates or boot into safe mode et. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

I have already updated and ran McAfee, Spybot, Ad-Aware and CClaner.

Updates Failed to install - Error Code 80071A91

My machine is a 5 year old Acer Aspire M3910 64 bit Intel Core i3 CPU 540 @3.07GHz with 8GB RAM running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. Thank you in advance!

I have also run SFC /SCANNOW, but it identified no issues. How do I get over this?

I have been unable to install Windows updates since mid-December, and now have some 11 outstanding. I have downloaded and installed the System Update Readiness Tool from the Microsoft site. Help to resolve this updating error would be very much appreciated.

However the CBS.zip file generated from the CBS file produced by running this tool is some 12 MB in size and falls foul of the 8MB limit imposed by the forum, and I cannot attach it.

W7-64bit Feb-2013 Updates; KB2799494 Failed, Error Code 80070057

I have a HP DM4 W7-64Bit notebook PC. So, I am at my wits end on where to even start.....please provide suggestions. I even use CCLeaner to keep the temp clutter out.

Error codes

I do have Horzion RollBack RX on the machine but usually only keep a week of so of previous snapshots. update error code 80070057 - Microsoft Community
For the above I did run SFC / SCANNOW and came back OK. I run Avast for A/V protection, run MalwareBytes from time-to-time to check too and both are clean. Download Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2799494) from Official Microsoft Download Center
I did some web surfing and not much out there on it.

Regards,
Eric

Try to install patch again

Make a copy of C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log (otherwise you can't open it)
Post that file and C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log as well

Zip them to make it smaller

All ~14 updates installed except KB2799494. MS13-017: Vulnerabilities in Windows kernel could allow elevation of privilege: February 12, 2013
It gave me error code 80070057....so I downloaded MSI and ran on PC....same error. I mention the RX install because I can set a restore point and try suggestions and return to prior state very easily.

I also religiously image my HDD with Macrium Reflect. Your help is most appreciated. The machine's use is 90% for MS Office....mostly Outlook....with some web surfing. I'm a very techy person and keep the machine very clean.

Windows Updates will not install. Error code 800F0900 for all updates.

This happens with all the updates when carried out individually, critical or optional. It downloads, then creates restore point, starts installation, but then comes back with the error code 800F0900. I would try running the System Update Readiness Tool:  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20858 .

Louis

As that did not solve it I then stopped all but MS services, and that did not solve it.  I tried the Microsoft .NET Setup Verification Tool.

I first went through the process of clearing all the Start-up Programs in the Services section of msconfig. This failed to solve the problem. This said there were problems that it could not fix and sent a report to Microsoft.  Following an earlier thread on this site, I installed and used the Windows Repair program from Tweeking.com.

Does any one have any other possible advice to help solve this problem ?
Suddenly Windows 7 has stopped installing Windows Updates.

Windows 7 Pro - Windows Updates Error Code: Code 80200011

I have about 15 laptops running Windows 7 Pro SP1 (brand new, just out of the box).  I've been able to install quite a few updates on about 3 of them (just started working on them).  However, now, I'm getting error code 80200011 when I attempt
to install additional "required" updates.
I've tried clearing the BITS queue, deleting softwaredistribution folder and ran SFC and nothing came up as being an issue.  I've searched the net on this issue, but there doesn't appear to be much on this specific problem.  These systems
are behind a proxy server.  I have other (XP, Windows 2003) systems that are able to update, but is there an issue between WIn 7 and some proxy servers?  If so, why would I be able to install some updates? Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
